Using Safelists getting 7% hits but makeing no sales

Hi,

I guess you could say I'm new to IM I have toyed with the idea for months - spent way too much on products that I have either not followed through on or have not delivered the support promised.
Recently got serious and intend to stick with it.

However I need some advise. Is safelist advertising really what it's made out to be? I've been promoting EWCF through the safe list emailing approx 6,000 users each time getting about 7% Click through rate (which i've heard is good) but I've made no sales. Do you think this means the product site does not convert well ( it was bought as a turn key - ready made) or is it just that safelists mailing is not quality traffic?

Any advise would be much appreciated, would love to know of other peoples start up experience - it seems all that is out there is the Gurus telling us they are earning 100,000 $ per week!

    My advice is to not send the traffic to a sales page... Sales pages typically only convert 1-3%...

    Send them to a squeeze page, build a list, build a relationship, get them to know, like and trust you... Then try to sell to them...

      Great point! Definitely start capturing emails with a squeezepage, if you aren't already.

      With safelists, as with any traffic, tracking is key! I can not stress this enough

      Sign up for about 10 safelists (traffichoopla.com and trafficzipper.com gives you good lists) and track both your clicks and where your autoresponder signups are coming from. I use bit.ly in combination with a "?tid" at the end of the address i put into bit.ly, like yourdomain.com/squeezepage/?tid=sl06012011. In your aweber (and probably other autoresponders) sign up notification you can then see where the signup came from (provided you make a new bit.ly link for each mailing).

      Then drop the safelists that aren't providing you with enough signup for your time/money investment, and sign up for other safelists to test.

      Use this to your advantage. Make a squeezepage (or find some readymade ones - PM me if you want some help) that is focused towards free traffic, and follow up with them in your mailinglist/autoresponder to build trust and recommend relevant/related products.

    I don't like safelist. Tried them before and got nothing. Hype and more hype! Its rare anybody here ever recommends them

      On the contrary.

      If you try the forum's search function, you'll discover that many recommend them, use them regularly, and some even make a full-time living from them.

      It's true, however, that many internet marketers are entirely unsuccessful with safelists. I think that's because (a) they haven't quite worked out that these methods are going to be successful only for people who are promoting something that's going to be relevant to users of safelists, and (b) they try to promote their offer too quickly, instead of offering valuable stuff free in exchange for an opt-in, building a list, and establishing relationships with people which are relevant to their needs. People who get these things right - which requires patience and discipline - can actually be very successful with them.

      Safelist traffic is highly targeted, but it's only any use to people who are selling/promoting products/services aimed at that highly targeted traffic. If you're not, then it won't work for you because you haven't matched what you're selling to your market. But to dismiss them as useless or untargeted is redolent simply of a "poor worker blaming his tools".

    Completely agree with the advice to send traffic to a squeeze.

    It's much easier to sell to a warm prospect who knows you than a cold one not familiar with who you are.

    Get them on your list, deliver to them free quality content, then ask for the sale.

    Sometimes (not sure), you'll get successful results with paid safe lists. Because 7% is good CTR with safe list marketing. And this CTR says people are interesting with your offer.
