Well said and I totally agree. When I first started, I did article marketing by posting articles in Ezinearticles, etc. Got to a Platinum writer and received pretty good volume on my affiliate sites. However as I got more into it I started to receive and view all kinds of other offers promising me instant wealth and success. For a while I got distracted and ordered many different programs and spent way too much time learning all kinds of new techniques but never actually applying them.

So yes I would agree that the most effective way to success online is to find a strategy you believe in and then stick with it. If you stick with what you are supposed to do, then you will eventually find success.

This is so true, and the newbies to IM need to keep this advice close to their heart. So many people try to create a whole bunch of sites at once and try to make money off of them, and they fail miserably. It is quite sad actually.

Thanks for this post. Its a good reminder.

I gota admit its tempting when you see a link or page to the newest and latest way to make money its quite tempting to read, research it and want to start it...

But if you quit what your doing the moment it gets tough and change to the next think that is present as an easy option then i guess you will never get anywhere!

I can definately relate to this. On the one hand, I know I'm doing something that works, and I'm going to stick with it for sure, on the other hand, It's just so exciting to gain more knowledge about IM.

I agree with the OP on focus being the most important factor, but I also believe that some business models are better for newbies than others. If for example you rely on SEO for getting traffic, you are going to have to put in a lot more work before you see results, than if you are doing forum marketing or article marketing.

So stay focused and use traffic methods, that generate rather quick results.

But...what if you are focusing on the wrong things, or those things that don't help to build or expand your business?

Focus, without direction, knowledge, and skill, is void, in my honest opinion.

Go to a nice quiet place, sit down or lay down, just chill out. And think about one thing that you want to do online. Anything will work once you have focus. Trust me. And if you don't believe me, i have tons of testimonials from the other Warrior forum members.

I learnt this the hard way. Anything can work as long as you put the time and effort into it. trust me. You can take one method, and work 24/7 on it and it will work.

Just to keep this thread lively and interesting....

If I believed that banging my head against the wall would make me lots of money, will it? What if I purchased 30 courses about it, and resolved to bang my head against a wall 24/7? Would I make any money from it? I may get a killer headache, but I'm not sure that I'd make any money...

Time and effort invested are absolutely necessary, however, that alone isn't sufficient, in my honest opinion. If the method if poor or ineffective, no matter how much time and effort you invest into it, it's entirely possible that you won't earn a time if there isn't underlying skill and knowledge. Of course, that comes with experience.

Well, I will say this. It is up to you to choose what method is best for you based on what experiences you have with Internet Marketing. For me, when I started internet Marketing I went straight to SEO because I knew a lot about it and I knew that I can make money from it.

However, if I took a different route. Like selling unicorns. It might be a bad method but if you really think about it. If I put all my time and effort into selling unicorns. even though they don't exist, won't I find a way to convince people to purchase the unicorn? Its not about the method. its about how much time and effort you put into the method that will make it work.

Putting the time and effort into it, means tweaking, and testing and tweaking, until it works and becomes profitable.

Lets take your banging the head method. Lets say you continued to bang your head against the wall for ages! If you keep it up you will probably figure out a way to make this into a profitable method. for example you can probably create some sort of viral campaign about you banging your head, with a content lock, etc.

Focus is key to Internet Marketing. There is no method that truly works. the only thing that works is the time and effort to make something profitable. I had to learn this the hard way and I don't want newbies to Internet Marketing fall into the same trap.

I agree. Focus also means don't buy too much IM product as it will make you overwhelmed with overload information.

But it will be different story if you already got some money from your IM business

Absolutely 100% agree. Failure to focus and follow-through is the #1 reason why people fail in the IM field.

Talk to anyone in the IM field that IS successful and they will tell you ...

"You have to start somewhere. Pick one project and then focus in on it and follow through on what needs to be done, even if it's not as perfect as you want it to be. Quit trying to be PERFECT and just DO IT. Nobody does anything perfect the first time out. And nobody becomes successful without a few screw-ups, mistakes or failures to look back on and learn from. Pick a project and DO IT!"

When you finally pick a project and get it working, even if you only make a few bucks, you will realize "HEY! I did it once, I can do it again ... and I can do it it BIGGER next time!"

Now go do it dammit!

ACTION ACTION ACTION. Most "Internet Marketers" spend 6 months being "IM'S" and then quit. Why ? Because they spend all their time finding reasons why something won't or shouldn't work. I remember thinking to myself that twitter was the most pointless idea I'd ever seen. Who would waste their time creating that. LOL big FAIL on my part. You never know what may work so try it all. And give it your all !!!

Yeah hooray for mentioning about focus. But sometimes its really hard to do it especially if you have many roles to play in life. But of course with the right setting of goal, this wont be a big problem.

Focus is must if you want to be successful in anything. But I would also say that you should also have some patience because it won't happen that you start something in morning and by evening you are the No.1 in that field. Persistence and not feeling intrigued by failures is the key to become successful.

Couldn't agree more . Focus is key . you can't make any money without it . Consistent focus on the right action generate income nad that takes time . It rarely ever immediate like most people would have you believe
