Getting A Virtual Assistant

Hey guys,

I hope some of you can give me some insights on this one: I'm looking for a virtual assistant (several actually so my business doesn't stop running when someone is sick), but the only real source I know for that is this Virtual Assistant company in India (Brickwork).

The only problem is: I've created my website using some elance guys from India, but when I'm being frank? Their English sucked, so it actually took me a lot of extra time, energy and emails to make things right (because they assumed all kinds of things that they shouldn't have assumed).

So...if you want a virtual assistant who regularly writes articles and/or posts articles on forums and websites, what's the cheapest and most effective company (or website with freelancers) you can recommend?

I want to spend as much time on marketing and product creation as possible, so it's time to delegate. Any help is much appreciated!

Regards,

D.

You could try AssistU.com to find a VA. I've never used them personally, but they were recommended to me by someone I trust.

As an aside, I'd search for ghostwriters instead of VA's if you're looking for writing work to be done. You'll probably get better results.

        Good luck!

@ dorothy and leisa: thanks a lot! Gemstone sounds really interesting (especially because of the subcontractors and the team vs. single assistant) and I'll check out the site right away...you can expect an email soon leisa

    @ nightengale: good point!

A lot of my marketing will be website or forum based (because there are hundreds of thousands of people on forums in my niche)...so I actually need

    A) ghostwriting so I'll have several articles for all those forums every week
and B) an assistant who can "throw" all those articles on those sites
so I can do C) reply to some topics for the personal touch, but focus on marketing mostly

Ever read the '4 hour work week'? It's a fantastic book and inside it there's several resources of outsourcing firms in India, China, and Russia that run extremely legitimate VA operations.

If you're looking for total automation (including having trusted VAs that can handle buying things through your account, refunding customers, etc.) then grab that book.

It's life changing, and absolutely what you're look for...

Here's the link to his site. You can get a hardcopy or the ebook version:

The 4-Hour Workweek and Timothy Ferriss

    It is worth every penny.

I use getafreelancer.com, really reliable. Make sure that they work for a company and not themselves and are also accountable.

You can try out hiring a BA or higher from the Philippines. They are very cheap, their English is excellent, they are loyal and good workers. $500-$600 a month is already a good pay there for a full time job for a qualified person.

There are many places, one is odesk.com where you can filter the applicants by tests the had made, their skills and ratings etc. Odesk also takes care of time tracking and payment for you.

Go get your help from the Phillipines. They are hard workers, generally do a good job, and are CHEAP to hire. A V.A. working 40 hrs/wk, averages $350-$400 pay per month. (that's not a typo!)

    Check out the resumes, here:

    www.bestjobs.ph

Specify good English skills...the type of "talents" they should have, and go for resumes that are 1 month old or less.

You will be happy with the results. Go to www.replacemyself.com and watch the free video that explains how to do this. John Jonas is real big on this.

Try rent-a-coder. I've found great help from there. It's free to use. Coders bid on your request. You also have the opportunity to review samples of their work. If you find someone you like, just continue to work with the person.
