I could really use some monetization ideas other than AdSense

After my .co.cc domain was de-indexed, and having just completing sanitizing it of every single trace I could find to that domain while reverting it to its default Blogger domain (not de-indexed), including deleting the .cc.co domain, my account there, my old stat counter and analytics code, fixing the internal broken links this caused, and notifying my link trade partners of the change in URL and requesting it to be updated through their form submission (plus the other odds and ends I've done like have the old site removed from Webite Value, Alexa, etc), I'm now looking at ways of monetizing it.

This is after doing some initial promotion following the sanitization: submitting it to 21 search engines, and doing a couple requests for inclusion into additional directories. And no this doesn't mean I'm about to rest on my laurels and wait fo the money to come in. I'm asking for recommendations so that I can focus my efforts on further promotion, content creation (I just published my first article since the de-indexing), back-linking etc, while having something there for any traffic that does show up while I do those things.

Right now I have only an Amazon widget, which I'm also about to overhaul. Its a 5 product static tower in my sidebar which I'm thinking about juicing up by calling it something like "pick(s) of the week" and focusing on maybe just one fresh Amazon product every week, with a link to a "past picks" archive below it, leading to its own separate landing page. Any Amazon affiliates who this resonates with, feel free to borrow the idea and even improve on it. I don't claim any originality or propriety to it (I'm sure others have thought of the same thing before me).

I'm also considering Click bank products - though there is nothing in my niche there that I'm willing to promote. There are likely related products I'd have no reservation about promoting and that are still a good fit for my site (I have a few ideas to explore there already).

So this is also not an "I'm too lazy to do my own fracken homework" post. More of a "this is what I've come up with so far, now that AdSense is out for awhile, but I believe I can do more and am looking for ideas while sharing my own" post.

Hopefully someone has some suggestion. The past few days have been s--- since the de-indexing, but Google didn't suspend my blogger account, nor de-index its own URL. I've fished it out the mud hole it was in, cleaned it up, registered a well thought out and researched .info domain that I've bought to start developing later, but am keeping going full steam ahead on this one for now.

Its soon to be little sister site is a two word, 11 letter domain (un-hyphened) with 29,000 searches just on the two words that make it consists of, evergreen, and with only 1 real competitor on high volume, low competion keywords. The others I will outrank and don't mind being #2 in the G list as his site is nothing like mine will be, while the market is of the habitual buyer type who mostly will look for, and follow, new sites. That's the rainbow after the s--- storm, as that it was getting de-indexed that led me to it. I'm still focused on my first site, though, as I don't consider it anywhere near ready to lose any focus at all with a second site. Later on I can keep it going while building the other one, but right now I'm still far from satisfied with this one.

OK, I had Google penalise one of my sites because of the domain name, I mean really what's wrong with loadofbull****.com , anyway that lead me to find other monetization methods. Here are a few I have used.

Chango, Infolinks, Chitika, Zaparena and Bidvertiser. Apart from Zaparena and Infolinks they display ads similar to adsense.

I also use services such as Commission Junction, ClixGalore and others.

Your best bet is to find an affiliate product that is in demand and promote that. I've had some luck with that but it's my latest venture that really has me exited.

Good to know I have company in the world of taking the smack down from big G and going onward! I've seen much, much worse by way of domain names on some hugely popular sites (some of which I'm a regular reader of), so I see nothing wrong with it other than another thing to keep in mind as G becomes synonymous with the small g that is also in the nanny business.

Thanks for the suggestions! Definite time saver as I now have a place to start. I have a pretty good idea of what I want in an affiliate product that ties in with my site - though not seemingly directly, its still an ideal launchpad for it - I just have to find it as I'm pretty particular there. This site may not ever become a big money maker (I have much higher hopes in that regard for my new .info domain) in and of itself, but it does have some long-term potential that I'm developing it toward: an e-book using its content as the backbone, and a "showcase" for a copy writing portfolio are my two long-range possibilities.

In the short-term, I'd still like to see it turn a buck though, even if it only begins as a trickle and never becomes a flood (I think making a flood of cash today on a first site is a lot like winning the Lotto - awesome if it happens, but not a very goal to pin all hope on).

Start reading up on affiliate marketing pronto.

Sign up for accounts with CJ, ShareASale and any CPA networks that have offers in your niche.

Then start promoting products with affiliate links. It will take awhile to find something in your niche, but I assure you once you find something that works your previous Adsense income will seem like peanuts in comparison.

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

The funny thing is that while I've been knocked back on several different occasions because of the domain name that particular blog does pretty well in the SERPs. What is really weird is although Google suspended my account it's seen fit to give me a PR2

Speaking of Lotteries, that's what I have my sights on now. Unlike other affiliates it has the advantage of repetitive sales as people usually buy tickets on a weekly basis. While other people are building their list I'm trying to build a customer base. While they have to continually send out emails trying to convince them to buy a product, I just have to sit back and watch the money come in

If you're knowledgeable enough, you could always come up with your own product - me and my colleague are having a gaming site and since we play the game pretty much on a daily basis, we can then utilize our knowledge and combine fun & making money.

I however admit that's more like an exception than a rule, so I would then recommend trying out Market Samurai's monetization model, which is excellent for finding affiliate products about which you'd never know they existed otherwise. If you don't have it / don't know anyone who has, PM me and I'll do a little search for you.
