Using softwares to create a website, a good thing?

Hey buddies ,

I straight-forward mention my query.

As a cost cutting issue, I've already planned to create a site (affiliate)using dreamweaver and then go ahead and host somewhere.

I've downloaded many templates and starting to fill my site over there.

Is it a good idea which I'm doing? Any Dos and Don't advises? Please mention disadvantages too.

Many thanks all,
Girish

    Dreamweaver is a good place to start to get to grips with HTML, after some experience you might prefer more flexibility by hand coding, i use "BBEdit" for the html/php and "CSSEdit" to handle the stylesheets.

    I also use a Firefox extension, "Firebug" for the development process.

    Dreamweaver is great, but I'd suggest wordpress. It's extremely easy to learn but provides a lot more flexibility that DW doesn't.

    Just head to youtube, and watch a video on how to install wordpress. Quick, easy, and highly effective/functional websites.

    If you have not done it before , then it makes sense to learn from masters .People who do it for a living . there are lot of videos on youtube or expert village that would walk you through the steps . Always better to learn form masters than trying to figure it out yourself . You can use wordpress template or drupal template and have a standard website running in no time

    I used PageBreeze, it's a free software with WYSIWYG and neat interface. I've been with several instant click softwares to create Squeeze PAge, but they're so awful, unattractive, and hard to control because the template is default and rigid. I purchased a squeeze page template several months ago and edit it with Page Breeze. IT's easier this way and if I want different niches I'll just change the header image and writing copy.

    It is dependent on what type of website you are planning to build. if it is a product based website then you can go for Dreamweaver or X site pro and if it is a blog then definitely WordPress is the best option.

    I use notepad++ and firebug.
    But for a newbie, dreamweaver is really good. It will highlight syntex problems.
    If you are using PHP and html, then try phpdesigner.

    Better use xhtml instead of html. Software is same for both

    Dreamweaver is still the industry standard after 10 years. You can't go wrong with it for theme design, but it's not a CMS... you're on the right track with Wordpress for content managment.
