A Great Google +1 Tip

OK, this is for all those WordPress bloggers out there, although there is no reason why you can't incorporate it into other blogging platforms.

Where most people install a plugin so that the +1 button appears in the post I've added the code in the sidebar as well. This gives your reader to vote for your home page as well

Another advantage buy having 2 buttons installed is it gives your blog extra exposure. One last thing the widget +1 shows the the value of whatever page they're on.

    Thanks Sire!

I've seen someone (namely ironrealms.com) implement the Google +1 and FB like in the header of the page as well. Does the same job, but gets more easily noticed?

Though installing it on the footer would do more good, you might argue that people may over look the footer but the thing is, after installing the heatmap sensor in many sites of mine I notices that the maximum CTR is on the footer links, especially the Social media links and the authors About Me page since the next thing a person does when he likes the article is to look for the credibility of the one who wrote it and they fetch for authors info and not vote buttons. If you want them to vote then place the button besides something that gets higher CTR.
It's been my experience that the best place to put social network icons is at the end of the post as that is the last place they end up after reading the post. If they like it they will vote if they don't they won't.

I put it up in the top (near the header) for all of my "brand" sites, people are actually pretty responsive to clicking on it, for instance on my brand new electronic music blog it has already been clicked upwards of 40+ times (you can see it in the top right).

The question is what effect will this button play on SEO in the long run.

That's a nice looking blog. Weird that no-one is leaving any comments though?

I would still put a +1 near the end of the post as well to encourage them to click on it. I looked at a couple of posts and none of them received a +1 yet. Just an idea.

I`m wondering if this is a factor that affects rankings. I`ll think I`ll test it soon but if someone already did that, please feel free to PM me too with the results ^^
