AWeber has taken away my list!!!

Hi People, I just logged into my aweber account and found that they have taken 2.2k of my subscribers.

I only have 90 left.. I have no friggin clue why this has happened.

I've emailed them and waiting for a reply but what can this be?

I have done NOTHING WRONG during my internet life.

What can this be?

Thanks,
Kashi

    Unlucky.

Of course you need to speak to them and I know the CEO is a Warrior here too and may pop in.

The trouble is I've seen one of these threads recently. The guy swore he'd never done anything wrong. Turns out he sent a dating email to a Farmville list and obviously a few reported it as spam.

So, what did you do prior to you noticing your list had vanished and why, seeing as Aweber are a third party, were you not making a backup of your list, which incidentally takes seconds?

What's really weird is they've left 90 people in your account.

I havent even been emailing my list that often..

Though I have a good relatioship with them..

I can't understand, can they even do that?
      Wipe away your hard work?

I just noticed it now when I logged in, people say it is reliable so I never backed up.

Will they have a back up?

I'm confused, they have left a list of 50 subscribers.

        50 or 90 left?

They can shut down your account and if you break their terms of service they can do what they like.

Regarding backing lists up, it's very necessary. My laptop is reliable but I still back it up to an external hard drive.

Aweber have Livechat, have you asked them? I'd want to know what's going on now, not waiting for an email.

I've heard of them shutting down accounts but I've never heard of them reducing the number of subscribers like that, I also think they're the only ones likely to be able to answer the question.

EDIT For future reference - Backing up your Aweber list.

hey, 90 grand total, and 50 subscribed..

Thats what I'm saying why didn't they just ban my account?

I don't think it is anything to do with spamming, because I have a very good relationship with my list, I do hours of skype chats helping them for free.

Live chat is not opened I've rang them and offices are closed on 4th and 5th.

I really want to know what is happening, I should have backed up, but will they have a backup?

I'll have to just wait, it's very odd what is happened.

Anyway thanks for your time for supporting me so far, I'll let you know what happens.

          Cheers,
          Kashi

As much as this sucks for you, no-one here can tell you why this has happened - only an Aweber employee can do that, because (1) they're the ones who will have deleted your subscribers in the first place, and (2) they're the only ones with access to your account information / logs, etc. :p

Aweber aren't likely to intentionally delete accounts or lists/subscribers for no reason. That'd make no sense at all. So unless there's been some kind technical hiccup or accident, you can be sure there's probably some valid reason for it, and chances are good that it'll fall within the realm of "you broke our Terms of Service" (and I'm not implying you're lying ... I'm just saying that you could quite easily have broken them without knowing it) or "your account is problematic <for whatever reason>".

I am sure that Aweber will have their own backups, but whether they'll be prepared to send you them at all is another matter. If they do, and the deletion wasn't a result of some technical/internal error or misunderstanding, they might perhaps try to charge you for that.

But again, this is all speculation ... and that's really all you're going to get here, I'm afraid.

            Good luck, anyway.

What's odd though Michael is the way they've massively reduced his list but not deleted it. If he'd broken the TOS I'd have thought they'd have lifted the whole account.

Yes, you're right Kashi, I forgot about Independence day.

I'm baffled as to why they reduced the amount and didn't ban it, I don't know but I can't see what you could have done wrong for them to do that. It's very odd.

Sorry I can't help you more. I really think they're the only ones that can help you. Look for the Warrior Tom Kulzer, he's the CEO of the firm.

That must be such a miserable feeling.

Kashi, I really hope they sort this out for you ASAP!

Richard, thank-you so much for nudging us all in the direction of backing up our lists as well as any other hard work we have done for our internet businesses. I too was under the impression that there was no need for backing up your Aweber list due to it's reliability. What an eye-opener this has been.

Let's hope all turns out well for Kashi though.
