Wordpress blog. How to track visitors?

What is the best way I can see how many visitors I have? I can see them with my hostgator cpanel but are there any good plugins or other methods?

I tend to use either the "official statcounter plugin" and "google analyticator (or something like that). You will need to set up accounts for both these but they tell you a lot about your visitors and what they are doing on your site.

      Hope this helps

As mentioned in the reply above you can use a plugin like Google Analyticator, that helps you to install Google Analytics very easily.

I really like the plugin called Slimstats. It allows you to see all your data inside your Wordpress dashboard. That way you don't have to log in to a separate account (i. e. analytics or hosting account) to see your data.

      I suggest this as well.

It's free and all you do is sign up to Google analytical.

Install a free plugin into Wordpress Search "Google Analytical"

All you do it enter you Google Analytical UA code and they track your stats.

they also track which keywords are bringing people to your site.

Wow, it's going to be so much better to view stats directly on my WP dashboard instead of having to log into my CP.

Another reason why I love this forum, not only are people willing to help with all one's queries but others often ask questions you never thought of asking yourself & you then also benefit from the advice.

Thank-you for the details. I will definately be installing this plugin!

I just use "wordpress.com stats" so I can get a good overview from the Dashboard and use Piwik or Open Web Analytics (which can be installed as a plugin) for a more detailed view.

Please do research about the mentioned plugins so that you can select the one that will work best for you.

You may want to add a clustrmaps as well if you like.

I use Statpress Reloaded. I am able to see what country/IP what pages they actually searched while on the site, and many other details

My cPanel of hostgator shows me that I am getting around 100 visitors a day. I this reliable data or do bots also count?

Best way to do this is to get the Google analytics plugin which is offered - track your visitors via google analytics and you're gold.

You learn something new everyday in this biz! I had no idea Google Analytics had their own plug-in on Wordpress. Previously, I have just been using plain old Google Analytics.

    Thanks for this thread, OP

Hey Chris. It's not an "official" Google plugin. Just a plugin, that make it easier for less technical people (such as me) to add the tracking code. You simply paste in the code and the plugin adds it to all pages.

I think there are more of them actually, but google analyticator is one of the most well known.

Ahhh ok, I understand! I can imagine how that helps tremendously! Will be taking a look at that shortly. Took me far too long to add the code on the first time around

    Cheers,

You can try using the free plugin WassUp - it displays your visitors in real time.

    Cheers!
