He Who Dies With The Most Niches Wins!

The post heading is an example of a controversial statement. Controversial marketing is now the growing rage. It's the type of marketing that starts people's tough wagging.

Now controversy makes reality shows popular, turns no talent people into millionaire celebrities over night -- and now it's the latest internet marketing trend. For example, see the latest popular internet marketing videos.

My question, do you think this is a passing fad, is it here to stay or is it too early to tell.

Have you employed any controversy marketing in your business?

Here's a news link that gives you a better idea of what I'm talking about. These represent the tamer versions of controversy marketing, it's much worse or better (depending how you look at it) than these examples.

Hate to break it to you, Niche Man, but controversy in marketing has been around since that "Woolly Mammoths Are Bad For Your Health!" story first hit the news.

Oh, I agree with you on that, but haven't you noticed it's getting deeper. For example many marketing strategies is based on controversy more now than marketing principles. If it bleeds it leads so to speak. Yes, I agree it's been around forever, but not to the degree and one ups man-ship we're at now, in my opinion.

    Yes, a lot.

It worked so well that I had to repeat it, working with minor celebs.. prompting them to make a controversial statement, and taking it to the media (with their consent of course).

The results I achieved were pretty awesome.. BBC, Wired, USA Today.. and loads more.

It's a win-win situation to get yourself into, if handled correctly.

I don't write about controversial things JUST for the marketing aspect of it, though. I write about them because I, generally, am very passionate about an opposing viewpoint and, I feel, as a blogger, that I can have a voice about those things.
