Facebooks New "Skype" feature & Google+ will change the game!
As IMers, here's why.
Facebook's Skype will allow your friends to contact you and have video and audio chats. First thing comes to mind is: What if I had video chat for my online courses with opt-in Facebook friends? Just think of it, one account with 5,000 people who can't blame you for spam, participating in a live or recorded video tutorial. If you can broadcast to all 5,000 at once you're good to go. Charge each just $1 per seminar or a subscription of like $50 per year and you're talkin' phat loot.
Same with Google+ that is already prepped for not only multiple chats but the option to form 'groups' where you can broadcast to multiple people.
Just think of the upsell options when you've got 5,000 friends or 100,000 "likes".
It's all going to depend on the options both will offer. If they have multiple chat/video and other goodies, you'll be in reach of almost a billion people. All you need is 500 of them on a regular basis like monthly. Just think, 500 paying $10 to be on your page and get freebies, tips, and more.
I'm lucky I've been on the beta programs with both companies and am helping debug software for a few upcoming video/chat software apps and more with other companies.
The battle is on to dominate this market and for good reason. It's literally going to change the way we do business on the web.
Just wait til you see what else we're working on. It will so totally blow your minds that you'll probably faint at your computers.
I can't go further as I've had to sign NDAs (non-disclosure agreements) but I'm allowed to say that the realm of video/chat over the next year is going to be awesome x astounding to the second freakin' power!
Wish I had more study in IM but I'll do good right now but you seasoned pros are going to beat yourselves senseless with the profit potentials to come.
