Need advice on finding a good domain

Hi,

First of all Happy New Year to all of you!!

Maybe my brains are a bit tired after New Years Eve

I want to make a blog about myself and what I am doing on the internet to start to make some money.

I wanted the domain richardmoog.com(my name),but this is already registered.

Can help me to give me some advice on a nice domain for my new blog?

Maybe some little advice can give me some inspiration to find a domain.

Thanks to all of you!

Register a catchy/relevant domain name containing words that
people search for (example brilliantgenius.com or whatever).

Use nameboy to help you find available names.

Register the domain within minutes of deciding upon it.

Richard, the domain name RichardMoog.com is currently owned by the domain registrar "NameCheap.com". Someone probably let it expire and the registrar still has it in their stock. It expires on January 17th. You can bid on it at SnapNames.com... the starting bid is just $59. It's unlikely that many people will bid on this, so you should be able to get it.

Gene has given you some great advice...

However, if you want to use your name now - consider adding a hyphen.

      Example:

      Richard-Moog.com

I really didn't think about this, this can also be a good idea to use a hyphen

      Thanks for your advice.
I was the one with the domain richardmoog.com,but i cancelled my acount and by mistake also the domain

I asked NameCheap if there is a way to get the domain back, but this isn't possible they told me .

Of course there is... bid on the name for $59 at SnapNames.com... unless it isn't worth that to you. Owning your own name with a .com is a must as far as I'm concerned. Of course, you could just wait until it becomes available again and hope that nobody else grabs it before you do.

          Gene,

I agree with you that I could backorder this domain for $59.

But the domain isn't worth the $59 for me.

In this case i will wait till the domain will be available for registration.

If someone else will register it,it's a pitty but not a big issue for me.

      Best of Luck!
I was also thinking about this,i was brainstorming, but i got crazy

That's why I thought to use my own name, much easier.

But i agree with you, keywords which match my blog would be much better.

    Keep in mind few things:

    1. Domain name is for human.
    2. It should be easy to remember.
    3. Far from possible misspelling.
    4. Relevant to your industry.
    5. Domain name is just a tiny part of overall Google algo.

If you don't use the previous suggestion of grabbing the domain for $59, AND if someone else grabs it, then another option is to use a variation of your name.

for example: Do you ever go by a nickname like Rick or Rich? Then you could get something like RichMoog or RickMoog.

Or perhaps you could add your middle initial Richard[your middle initial]Moog.

    Or, maybe RMoog.

Just throwing out ideas (I haven't checked to see if any of these names are taken.)

    cheers,
    Becky
