should i buy an IM list?

Hi guys, I've just been offered to buy a IM list of 12k subscribers for almost $3000.

This list makes around $8000 per month which got me interested.

If I buy the list, the seller will give me an export of the list to import it in get response or ebizac.

Do you guys think It's worth buying the list?
This person who I'm buying it off is a trusted person, I buy regular solo ads.

but do you guys think it's worth it for $3000?

Thanks
Kashi

the prices are off, if you buy a website you pay 10 times the monthly income so if it was less that 80,000 I would consider it more of a gamble than an investment.

why would anyone sell an 8k a month list for 3k you've got to think about it logically before getting ripped off.

your much better off to spend $3,000 on solo ads or ppc with 3,000 you could easily build a list that makes 8k a month with a good sales funnel

It's generally a waste of time to buy a list, no matter the niche. Doesn't matter if its offline or online either. Just think what you could do with that 3k and use it to build your own list? A list of responsive buyers that you are building a relationship with.

The list had subscribed to that specific person in that specific niche. It'd almost
be like throwing money down the drain because they really wouldn't have a single
interest in you or your products. I'm also not getting something here - someone
is selling a list for $3,000 that makes them $8,000? Think about it before buying.

Being as cynical as i am...
"This list makes around $8000 per month"
I'm sure you have independently verified this, screenshots are no longer proof of sale these days.
And as my esteemed colleagues have noted $3000 for a list making $8000, smell a rat yet?

I'm not an expert, but don't most if not all respectable AR's insist that subscribers from "imported lists" optin from scratch? (I may be way off here).

Lastly is the list (subscribers) targeted to your niche or niche you are getting into? They may have opted-in for a weekly on gardening and you may be trying to sell them on IM tools...

    Cheers

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

    Yea, not sure about this?

How can you say a list 'makes' $8,000 a month? Doesn't it depend what products you are marketing to it?

You will also find that a list has a selling limit on it. They won't buy products month after month forever.

I'd think you could invest your $3k elsewhere.

Since you bought regular solo ads from the guy, I think you'd know the conversion rate and responsiveness of the list. If you think it makes sense, then go ahead and buy it.

I have a feeling that you already know what you're going to do, you just need confirmation from others.

    Not by me.

Call me a skepchick ... but do the people on the list know that their email addresses are being sold? Did they give consent for that when they opted in? How many other people is he also selling it to? (And if the answer's "nobody", would you believe it?). Do you know that you'll be able to import it into an established, respectable autoresponder with a decent deliverability rate? (Seems terribly unlikely to me).

I wish you well with it, Kashi, whatever you decide. Though your wording ("who I'm buying it off") suggests possibly you've decided, really?

It is ultimately up to you but my opinion is, NO don't do it! Spend that money on solo ads or PPC. You are much better off by doing that.

Be careful might be buying another rehearsed piece of junk.

Don't get me wrong, list building is certainly among the top five ways to start making instant money online but it has to be exclusively rich, that is double opted, targeted, not saturated among others.

What sort of return where you getting from your solo adverts?

The chances are that you've already got the best leads from that list already on your own, so why are you giving this person $3k to get the people who didn't buy your offer when you did the solo advert?

$3k is a lot of money to be spending and I wouldn't invest it in buying someone else's list. As has been said already do the people on this list know that their information is being sold, and what sort of trouble could that get you in?

Much better investing that money in your own sales funnel and lead generation.
