19,000 page views and made $2

I am still new to this. I just made a site about a month ago. It has 19,000 views on adbrite (I got banned from adsense, site has more than 20,000 views overall). Anyway, I'm a little discouraged bc I only made $2 so far with 20 clicks. Does it get any better or is this how it's going to be?

These are my sites. first one created a month ago, the second one created 3 days ago

    Just tossing ideas your way:

    1) Focus only on reviewing items you make money on as an affiliate. In other words, enforce the concept of leakage - which is that someone should only be clicking out of your site if there's a chance you'll make money on it. Otherwise, there should be no way out of your site (lots of internal linking)

    2) Since you seem to review products - throw in an Amazon module or aspect (affiliate with Amazon of course).

None of these ideas preclude you from continuing with your current Adbrite strategy. See what works over time (2-3months) and modify accordingly. Rinse and repeat.

If it was me I would take out the Adbrite ads off the homepage as to me it looks spammy, if your viewers are clicking through the specific products you have a much higher chance of selling them that product than them to click on one of those ads.

If I'm looking at a Candy vending machine unless theres a video on there I won't be clicking play now and im sure you will put people off with what appears to be download links all over your site.

Just my opinion mess around test a few things see what works.

You made that site a month ago and got 19,000 page views? That's a ton.

What kind of traffic are you driving? Is that from the search engines, PPC..?

As the last poster mentioned, you may not want to combine affiliate links with ads from Adbrite. The more people click on your ads, the less click on your affiliate links!

What about Chitika instead? For 20 clicks, you should definitely be earning more than $2....

I know Adsense is the cream of the crop, but I'd have to say Chitika would probably be my 2nd choice.

You're all over the place. Try focusing on a single niche or, at the very least, narrow it down to just a few categories. Also, as somebody else said, only make reviews for products that you can make money from.... and make them honest reviews! Even sh*tty reviews with affiliate links make money. What was your plan on making money from a review on McDonald's Caribou Iced Coffee?

Adbrite is not a good option as more often they have 'no ads'. As your site is based on try to make some posts with affiliates link. As your traffic is great, I am sure you will get the sell. Infolinks is also a good option.

So Everyday Reviews is the site that had 19K page views?

My biggest question is how/where did the traffic come from. That could explain a lot.

Out of curiosity, how many unique users did you have?

Forget about trying to make small money from good traffic... You don't have to use adsense, adbrite if the conversion sucks. Try replacing with affiliate links instead =)

First step would be to change those themes!

Second join Amazon if you cant get in try Skimlinks they are pretty
ahhh, Ganster!!> you can promote EPN & Amazon products without being
an actual partner and a whole range of other products too.

Third, sign up with Google Analytics & Google Webmaster tools to track the real
source of your traffic and actual "Unique" hits you get. Page views don't mean Jack.

Lastly, you're doing quite well for a newbie. Don't give up & stay committed.

Change adbrite into something else. Adbrite wont be giving you much moolah to you, try focusing on high paying commissions from clcikbank instead. Not sure how you got so many page views but make sure that you dont use traffic exchange sites.

After looking at your sites, I don't see how they received 19000 pageviews.

Either your PV tracking is way off or that was some of the most untargeted traffic on earth.

    Both scenarios are completely possible.

Tell me. What are you Google Analytics UV's for that month?

Let me guess... These are both autoblogs, right?

Your first site is so all over the board, I'm amazed you made anything. From fast food reviews to bulk vending machines to...

The front page of the Toyota Tech site has almost nothing about Toyota, and the video ad I saw was about dishwashing liquid.

If you insist on using Adbrite, you'll need to focus your content so you actually have a chance of pulling relevant ads. Strike that...

For any contextual ad server, you'll need to focus your content so you actually have a chance of pulling relevant ads.

If your traffic sources are as shotgun-scatter as your site content, you can count yourself lucky for making anything at all.

On a side note, the Toyota site took forever to load. The black background was quick, which would have given you a pageview, but the actual content took 18 seconds.

    Hi,

I'm new at all this and I'm working right now on a review site. I was wondering if you got banned from adsense with that review website and if yes, do you kow why exactly?

    thanks

hey guys. thanks for the awesome feedback. I have a lot of page views from forums. I reviewed a couple of items and posted links on forums. I had 900+ visitors from XDA forums as I reviewed 3 acer A500 products. Also, a lot of traffic from cruise forum bc i reviewed a cruise and i was pretty active there. I was also looking for reviewers so i posted on craigslist to pay for reviews.

To answer the question above, yes i was banned from adsense bc i clicked on ads a while ago for a non serious blog i had on blogger and never intended on cashing out or anything.

i think i wont use adbrite. i didnt know it was showing "download" links. those are pretty useless. where can i get some good affiliate ads? I tried amazon, but it is not available in my state (NC)

id say part of it is because your review site says its a forum based review site yet when users go to your forum there are no users. this could put a bad taste in the users mouth and steer them away from ads rather than attract them. also , the content i saw was not very relevant to a review site, also, a better position would be worth looking into. just my 2 cents.

I've this same problem but I'm using Adsense.

Basically I changed the layout of my site.. the tradeoff seems to go like this 1.3k traffic - 1.6k and I was making around 3-7 dollars a day in Adsense revenue but the site looked utterly poor, it was basically just ads and the content was hard to read.

I revamped the site, put some smaller adblocks in and displayed the content and layout a lot better (looks nice now)

Now i get 1.5k-1.9k traffic a day, this would be great If I wasn't making 0.50c-2.50c a day!

    Sigh...

My suggestion based on the above is play around with your Ads presentation until you have your viewers "happy medium" and your own..

    Regards,
    John

19000 visitors a day great but my question is, what is the source of your visitors they are coming form traffic exchange, ppc advertising like adsense or leading search engine's like google search, how many unique visitors you have a day. if you have unique (not from traffic exchange) visitors per day then definitely you will more than 2$ a day with heavy visitors 19000. i don't like adbrite is not good in my view change it with chitika as a friend give you suggestion in his reply .

Here are a few tips to increase the CTR rate of your banner:

    - always place your banner ads above the folder of a site for maximum visibility.

    - figure out what types of people are interested in the product you offer based on age, gender, income, education etc.. Quantcast.com is a great free resource to determine that

    - pick the right website to promote your ads. If you promote a weight loss product, you won`t get much clicks on a site about medical surgery.

    - don`t let your ad stick out of the crowd and scream "I am advertisement". Instead, try choosing the same color pattern and make your ad look like it`s part of the site.

Hope these tips will help increase your convertions

thanks for all the advice. I am constantly updating my site after reading your great feedback. My site used to be an SMF forum based site, i did a complete overhaul and changed it to wordpress. I had over 130 members, but now im back to ground 0.
as for the traffic, i think some of it is google bots. Analytics says that I have 2,500 unique visitors thus far. I probably have more bc I didnt implement analytics until about a week after using adbrite.

right now, i changed it completely so that I am no longer using ppc or cpm. I am solely relying on affiliates now (linkshare.com). I dont know if this is good or bad.
A lot of my traffic is coming from XDA forum bc I reviewed a tablet which I own. 900+ visitors from there so far.

I just signed up for skimlinks, thanks for that maybe I should do away with the forum section altogether? and just use this site as a landing page so i can make money off affiliates?
Not sure what i should do now.

ps i didnt pay for any hits. I'll look into linkworth. thanks

I've never worked with AdBrite myself, so I dunno what to tell ya there.

When I was banned by adsense, I changed my adsense spots over to CPA/affiliate banners, and made a hell of a lot more $ than I EVER did with adsense.

I've typed this sooooooooooooo many times in the past, and I dont feel like typing it again. So here is a copy/paste from what I've told others in the past:

For affiliate marketing, these sites pay you INSTANT commissions, directly to your PayPal.

No waiting for payments. Its like they bought directly from you.

RAP Bank -Instant Commissions Vault (rotating payments - 1st sale goes to vendor, 2nd to you & so on)

iDavi - THE Digital Product Marketplace (rotating payments)

JVZoo.com - Instant Commission Platform for Sellers and Affiliates (instant/delayed payments, depending on the vendor's payout settings)

DigiResults — Work Less, Sell More (instant commissions for all products)

Now for CPA, I recommend starting out with:

PeerFly :: Custom Built, Performance Driven - Affiliate Marketing, Performance Marketing, CPA Marketing, Advertising

MaxBounty - Best CPA network for affiliate marketing programs

Don't lie on your application. Just be honest with them. They will find out if you lie anyway, so there really is no point.

FYI - "Vertical" is CPA terms for niche.

EDIT - Wow.. I feel stupid now. I just realized this is a VERY old thread... lol oops

Getting traffic is generally the hardest part. Getting 19k page views is no small task. Can I ask how you did this?

Anyways, try working on the design and improving your ctr on your ads. Look at where people are clicking the most and try and place Ads around there because that is where you will get the best CTR.
