Has The Recession Ran Mavericks and Rebels Out of I.M?

With everyone seeking templates, proven plans and safe techniques, is the recession running the mavericks and innovators out of Internet marketing? Where is the new generation of Dan Kennedy's, Jay Abraham's and Marlon Sanders? ... or has the mold been broken?

It looks that way sometimes. We do need a new generation mavericks and innovators. People need to believe in IM again like they did with older gurus.

Yeah I second that. Or people who are making a killing online are deciding to not get into the whole teaching/consulting thing.

A husband and wife team of media buyers I studied under back a few years ago said that the teaching side was a total time suck/money pit. So they shut it down and went back to driving traffic and (presumably) making money.

Was that Carlos and his wife Lupe?

A lot of people these days get into IM to make money and build their perfect lifestyle.

Teaching internet marketing is the main way people become well known internet marketers.

I think teaching IM has got a bad name because of a lot of fakers selling "make money online" products in order to make money themselves.

I read an amusing post on another thread: "Give me one million dollars and I will teach you how to make one million dollars from a forum post"

I think a lot of the big name marketers have moved on but there are plenty of "no name" marketers still making serious bank

There's a lot of underground marketers out there that don't like to teach
and stay in their underground bunkers quietly making bank.

I'm sure we'll see an uprise of new guru's over the coming years.
This forum is the making of them!!

Rebels and Mavericks excel at turning lemons into lemonade.

Recessions don't scare away people of that caliber, but rather encourages them to be more creative.

You have a great point. Lots of folks working the levers looking for that instant hit - the big score - and they don't want to work for it.

I learned early on to stay clear of all offers to "make $millions overnight" with some secret system. Hard to believe there are so many people that will spend 12 - 16 - 20+ years in school to get an education and expect that a few days on the internet and they can make a pile.

The odd lucky story may leak out - but like anything else in my opinion we get what we put into the project. Hard work has continued to be the only way to learn something. I am grateful for all the Warriors and training I have so far.

Following others who have worked and earned success is helpful -- but they can not do it for us -- that is up to us.

You are right the market will settle after a bit - the new experts will show up soon.

Best of luck - great question - makes us all think !
