How do you find a niche, domain and keywords?

Hi,

All the time I hear(see) people talking about niches, keywords and domains.

I was wondering how to do this.

i.e. Forex

When i look here : https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

I see many keywords.

How do i know what will be the best for me,I don't think the one with the most searches, should be quite difficult to get a good ranking in Google.

i.e. forex exchange

Can be forexexchangeblog.com

These are just examples, but is this the right way to choose your niche, keywords and domain?

    Richard,

PM me I will show you my blog where you can learn alot of FREE ways to do keyword research. Not sure I'm allowed to just post my blog in the forum but it's 100% free. Rather than re-post everything I've already got on there I'll just send you right to it.

If that is the niche you chose, find a keyword that has at least 2500 searches a month with a competition of less than 30,000 (put the keyword in "quotes" and see how many results pop up).

That is how I determine the main keyword I want to target in my blog domain. Additionally, choose other long tail keywords that have competition of less than 10,000 with at least 250-500 searches a month and write articles for them. Works well for me.

Actually amount of competition really has no influence on how strong a keyword phrase really is competitively speaking. It makes more sense to figure out how strong your competition is rather than how numerous. Just my experience in it.

Always judge strength rather than quantity.

Before you start getting into keyword tools you must understand that they are not one hundred percent accurate.

Most of the data, if not all of it, is an estimate...

Keyword tools should be mainly used as a guide that helps you get going in the right direction.

Also, most of the keyword tools that you will find provide an analysis of keywords used for both SEO and PPC...

The one most notable exception is Google's keyword tool, which gathers information for PPC only.

However, I think that even Google may now have a keyword tool for SEO - Although, I could be wrong about this

        Now...

As far as choosing a domain, everyone will have a different opinion on this but - my advice would be to choose a domain that is closely related to your business.

Many people will tell you to use your keywords in your domain for SEO purposes - which is also a great idea.

        O.K.

You also asked, "How do i know what will be the best for me,I don't think the one with the most searches, should be quite difficult to get a good ranking in Google."

The truth is that you won't know immediately which keywords will be most suitable for you... you will need to do some testing to be certain.
