2k Visitors In 3 Weeks How To Monetize?

Hi

I recently experimented with creating a forum, which is a change for me as I usually do the standard Wordpress blogs when it comes to building sites. I have it all up and running, its targetted at players of Zynga's game "Empires & Allies". At the moment I'm struggling to monetize this site heres the info:

Stats
  • 2,000 Unique Visitors in 3 weeks
  • 39.23% Bounce Rate
  • Avg. time on site 2.30 mins

Monetization Attempts
  • Lightbox popup optin which pulls people into my autoresponder sequence promoting clickbank guides
  • Banner on the main page to game guide based on Clickbank
Does anyone have experience with promoting game guides for these types of game? Or, has anyone got any tips to monetize forums?

Another thing that I was thinking is how attractive would a site like this be to potential buyers if I were to try and flip it?

Look forward to your opinions!

Cheers
Tim

You could contact Thomas Smale from Flipping Enterprises and discuss flipping the website.

That's some impressive stats you have there!

I have always found that creating a forum is a near impossible task, but you've pulled it off.

To answer your first question, monetize it with Adsense. If you're feeling fancy and know that you have highly targeted traffic, then maybe use a banner rotator that alternates between the 'Empires & Allies' guide and Adsense.

Forums are always hugely popular on Flippa, if they have attractive stats. You might find a huge 'Empires & Allies' fan, who will be willing to pay top dollar to own the site, but you need the following:

      - Google Analytics (that can be verified by Flippa)
      - Google Adsense earning proof (create seperate channels to provide clear results, as nearly every potential buyer will be looking for Adsense earnings)
      - Clickbank earnings

You should also take the following into consideration when estimating the value of your forum:

      - Domain age
      - Page Rank
      - Alexa Rank
      - Traffic sources (potential buyers love high amounts of organic search engine traffic)

There are also a few stats that are essential to making a forum appealing:

      - How many members
      - How many active members
      - How many sign-ups per day
      - How much work is required to maintain the forum

You already have a head start as you can carry on building this forum to sell.

      Good luck!

I'd double check that they are real visitors and not bots before you waste time trying to make them buy.

Thanks for all the replies. Maybe I should test adsense that is something I considered but never got round to testing. I like the idea of rotating banners too.

As far as flipping the site goes I stayed away from Flippa as technically the site is not profitable and I assumed that would be the criteria for most buyers.

Saying that, this is still a huge opportunity with the amount of traffic and the email list that is also being built.

I guess more testing is the only answer!

Also if i were you, i would avoid using adsense.

I don't think it would be worth it...why

you will only be making couple cents per click and

to be making any real money with adsense you will need

a MASSIVE amount of traffic. I would stay with the affiliate/cpa

      offers if i were you.

I checked out your website on alexa and your ranking was

over 5 million. If you want to make the site more profitable you

    will need more traffic.

completely impressive man. i am barely making 500 ppl a day. but i make decent money of cpm based ads. and really that is the only way to monetize a entertainment or gaming related site because these kinds of users don't have the attention span to actually go through and click on ads. so no ppc. u can look into selling them something that they will def want to buy..

CPA offers could be what your looking for. ZIP & email submits work the best for me, but you need to find something that works with your niche. Maybe push your auto-responder series a bit harder and see if it increases sign-ups, where conversions will be occurring.

You should try Adsense, CPA, more professional SEO. You have a great chance to get some bucks out of it. Good luck !

Yeah I think basic CPA offers would be a great way.

Or if there's a guide, you can put banners for it.... or both.

But definitely check to see if its visitors or bots. You'd be amazed how many "visitors" to your site are just search engine robots crawling around

There are always a couple of CPA offers for Zynga related games. You can probably find a couple of offers that you can promote on any decent CPA network.

All you need is to throw up a banner and watch the sales drop in.

Interesting seems your going the right way so far, the only other monetization efforts I can think of include using adsense you can put this to show between posts and in the first post of a thread ect.

It is possible for 3 weeks since its a gaming site and people now are so active online that even their entertainment preference involve computers. Also if it has been online ever since but never for a 3-week old site. I think Tim should verify what pages have the highest views and # of unique visitors so the ads could be placed there.
