Amazon Authority site - How to get if off the grounds?

Hello!

I am in the process of building a Amazon authority site and have read many threads on this subject. However, I am still undecided and wonder how to best go about it:confused:

1) Many warriors have said that Google doesn't like large review sites and therefore the site could end-up being "slapped" by Google. Is there a way around this? How many products/pages do you safely recommend for the site?

2) I know this is a boring question but to bring traffic, what work best (articles, blog commenting?)

3) I can spend 2 hours a day working on this and would like to do it in the most efficient way.

Thank you for your replies

    1. Instead of filling the site with a bunch of reviews, try showing customers how a type of product helps them. For example, you can use a widget to communicate with the world faster. Then you go on and expound the benefits of having a widget, and get the visitor to agree with you about the widget and start looking for one to buy.
    2. There is no 'best' IMO. But, you need to decide between the various traffic methods and ask yourself: "Which is easiest for me?"
    3. You will make mistakes. There's no avoiding it, and you really shouldn't be avoiding it.

... try showing customers how a type of product helps them
Do you mean creating a video? (this might be impractical as I will need to purchase the product first, unless I can get an already-made video from youtube?)
      Which is easiest for me
...That makes sense considering I only have 2x hours per day....

Yes an appropriate embedded Youtube video can work. If you go for that, I find it's best to add your own introduction as well as some words after the video. That way the video looks more like it's part of your work.

If you want more work, add a transcript of the video underneath it. This depends on the subject but can add a lot of value, especially on a step-by-step procedure. It takes a bit of time though, but you can outsource it.

Being outlandish and a magpie at the same time is difficult, but I try.

Building an authority site as an amazon affiliate is really down to preferences. People have divers opinions when it comes to any thing "google" and niche sites. You gotta find what works for you. Here are my recommendations though:

    1. Write for people first then the search engine. If your reviews don't sound interesting to people, no matter your ranking, you'll still not make enough sales.

    2. I'll say, build one site per product type. Don't jampack all your divers review into a site because you want it to be a authority site. Write specifically for a product and cover it in details.

    3. Seo is business as usual. In most cases, some of the articles will begin to rank for different keyword without a single backlink. I have seen this happen many times. Most of my amazon niche sites rank as high as "page one number nine" with no work done and in some cases, these are very competitive keyword as as much as 4m-12million competing pages.

Therefore, doing a little seo on such a site will yield very fast result.

Finally, if you can do video reviews, do them, if you can't, use the normal descriptive words to review your product and generally, help your readers make the best purchasing decision.

    Hi

Google loves content so if you build an authority site on a subject I see no reason why that site would be penalized for having lots of valuable reviews.

    As for traffic Methods

1.) SEO get your site to 1st page of Google by ensuring excellent on page Seo correct keyword density and anchored backlinks. I love Free traffic and the best free traffic is from Google.

2.) After you have added your review to your site Submit your reviews to article bases, press releases, find some relevant blogs and ask to do a guest blog

There are tons of other traffic methods but those are the most common.

    Kickin it on Amazon

    1) I'd be very surprised if this was true (it certainly isn't my experience). Google likes plenty of quality content, so I can't imagine they would 'slap' the site for providing this. Put as many products/pages as you want on the site - you can start small and gradually add content to the site.

    2) To bring traffic you need to rank well, so good on site optimization, and backlinks from a variety of places - forum posting, blog commenting, article syndication, guest posting, press releases etc.

    3) The most efficient way? Make a plan of what you intend to do each day and just do it

Many warriors have said that Google doesn't like large review sites
    electronics reviews - Google Search

    tv reviews - Google Search

Follow those and tell me what you see. I think I saw several very large review sites. Some might even call a few of 'em Authority Sites.

Many warriors are tools. Just statin' the obvious.

Google does not hate reviews sites. They hates LOW-QUALITY review sites.

Do some keyword research and see how many millions of people use Google everyday to search for reviews. Reviews are a form of research, which is what the Internet is all about. If users want good reviews, Google is going to give it to them.

Is Amazon the only way to go for this? What about using an affiliate program like Overstock.com? It gives I think 7% commision (although I don't think you get money for other products they click on).
