Facebook fanpages using SSL could cost you $20 a year + $2 for a IP

Hi,

As you are all aware that on the 1 Ock you have to use SSL. I have been reading up a bit on this and though that I will just install one ssl certificate on my main domain of my vps and then access the wordpress install using

https: // mainserverdomainname.com / ~username (using shared SSL)

Only problem is wordpress won't work as the menu is generated according to the domain and not according to the username.

So basically for each install on a domain you would have to install a SSL (+- $20 a year) + $2 a month for a dedicated IP. This will be per domain

Anybody looked at this with some ideas

I use NameCheap for my domains and my hosting, and it cost me $24/yr for a dedicated IP and I got a special deal on the SSL for $1.99.

I have the SSL on one domain and I put all of the FB pages that I build into separate folders on that domain, and I build the pages with WordPress, using a theme that someone is selling as a WSO. I've never had an issue at all with it not working.

      Hi Jeffrey,

Thanks for the advice. I will be doing some of mine but I a few domains I am using on facebook but seems I might have to move them. Yes in your case it will work as the the ssl and folders is on the same domain but I was hoping to use shared ssl

I think I was just running a bit ahead of time. It is still 3 months to go and as I have a few spare IP's on my vps I see you can get a few ssl cer for under $10 so I am not going to worry about it
