Is making an educational site worth it?

Hi guys, first post here in WF. I've been thinking about creating this educational website about a slavery novel that 1st year high school students are required to learn here in my country. At the moment, the monthly search for the novel, based on google's keyword tool is 30,000. Other similar searches that have words like "guide", "summary", "notes", "spanish" have searches that range from a few hundred to a few thousand. There also isn't much competition for this topic.

I was thinking of making a site that will offer summaries of each chapter of the novel along with some important notes. I will even put some additional information about the novel that students can use. The only way I can think of monetizing the site at this moment is through adsense.

I'm not entirely sure how much I'd earn for all this work, but since teaching students about this novel is required by law, I guessing that the website will be relevant for a long time.

I was wondering, would creating the whole thing would be worth the time and effort?

Is there any other way I could monetize the site?

Tips and suggestions would be really great, thanks!

    Adsense would be a nice start. If you do it right you can reach up to 25% CTR . There are wordpress themes that can greatly enhance the clickthrough rates while making your site look professional and informative. You can get more info at DIYthemes .

    Since your question is "making an educational site worth it?" I would encourage you to go back to the drawing board until you know how you can answer how you will make money from it.

    Unless your looking to get some personal enjoyment with teaching. I am assuming from your post you are looking for monetary gain. If that is the case, find an angle to make money with the requirements needed for your site.

    Only then will you know if a site is "worth it."

    It doesn't sound like a topic that would attract high-paying AdSense advertisers, so I'd look for other ways to monetize the site.

    You don't say what country you're in, so I'm not sure whether there'd be any affiliate restrictions, but I'd consider student-related affiliate products (study aids, courses, equipment etc.) or package your own crib sheets for sale.

    Or

    Are you making it so you can make a profit?

    I can tell you that you probably won't make as much money as you would with a landing page .com or .net page so it all depends.

    Well from pure investment point of view i think it will be just wastage of time.You will not get good ads and almost all the ads which you will get will be just few cents.

    I also started such project 3 years back and it was big misfit so i abondoned it.However for education purpose or for online name u can go for such projects
