Newbie finally trying to take action what next?

I have spent several months reading posts in here about the Internet as the place to develop an income stream that can make money even in your sleep.I have long dreamed of making my hobby into just such an endeavor. I have had no resources to start the project until a light went on in my head Saturday. So here are the things done to take action.

1) Clean up and sell the old car in the back yard to get seed money.
I did this and will sell it on CraigsList or some way.(the light)
2) Did keyword research and my target keyword gets 165,000 global
and 33,100 local exact match searches monthly. Competition graph
looked to be about 45% along the graph bar.
3) Checked GoDaddy for a .com domain with what I think might be a good
name with this keyword and it is available.
4) I have joined some related forums and offered to teach the craft
several members have expressed an interest.
Does what I have done so far make any sense and does is this approach actually qualify as action taken? Or have I just wasted another weekend?

My general broadbased niche is in woodworking so do I need a website a blog or both? I also noticed several mispelled versions of the keyword had as many as 3600 searches. Would buying the domain names for these mispelled words make sense?

Sorry for the long windedness here I just don't know a lot and I need to get my actions into action.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Wayne

    hi

there are much more to analysing stats of keywords then just looking at google keyword tools.

if you want to go for misspelled then go for product launches.

look for a product that is about to launch and buy the misspelled version.

    that is it.

then when it is launch people will type in ur misspelled url and land on your page and buys thus you get the credit.

for building a site on a product i wouldnt go for misspelled urls. its like your address of your home. you wouldnt want a wrong address..

for product launches you dont need to care about the ownership, just buy a domain and hosting for a few months and do the misspell.
profit on it and move on.

for setting up websites that u want onwership for long then pls get a proper url.

    that is my opinion.

im not an expert but i have read a bunch of threads on here about misspelled domain names and keywords. especially now when you type in a misspelled keyword google has the "did you mean" button and self corrects what the user intended to type.

Sounds like your handling the research, I didn't see mention whether you have identified revenue sources, are you looking at affilite linking to physical product stores for a few percent commission?
Exact match domain names may be losing some of their power, mixing a keyword with other myWordWorkingGuide reduces the ranking leverage. Expect you will have to target a family of related terms, not just one.
If indeed you are targeting hobbyists, it may be important to be active in multiple forums and social sites as well as having your own Facebook Fanpage.

    hi mrWayne.

Sounds like you're heading in the right direction. Why don't you start with teaching those forum guys your trade? That is a good way to build reputation there, and start getting referrals and testimonials. It is just like offline business. Its a snowball effect. Then soon you are a veteran on that forum, and people will look up to you (and business comes with it as well ). That is a strategy for active revenue stream (meaning you work).

Then, once you are established (more or less), make a website, and direct folks there to look at your site (you can just even put it in your sig). Now you are established, have a good community to work with, and they come to you... now you can sell online webinars for leads, have a mailing list, etc.

I have given you a game plan off the top of my head. Now revise it and go with it!

just be careful what you do with the seed money. Don't jump around with the IM too much. make a plan on paper, review it, do what you're doing with the research. good luck to you.

Thans everyone for these excellent tips. As a started plan in the forums related to my craft I posted pictures and then after a few days and some responces I offered to teach the forum how to make them. I have now had several people express a desire to learn the craft. I invision uploading all the instructions and accompanying pics. This will take several installments over probably 3 or 4 weeks. I think I will build a website or a blog post the articles to it. Over time I would think I should offer a ebook and a video series of the instructions with me actually making this item in my shop.

    Again thanks for your responces

I would check where your target market is, put the misspelled words in google analytics and see where the potential customers come from, are they buyer key words? What is the population of the keyword? Are their adwords in the side bar of google for this misspelled keyword?.....
