Using WP as online store

Does WP works and convert as store?
I am running few websites based on other platforms like shopify, magento, but want to set up store based on WP - question is - will it work? does WP platform, themes and plugins support web store needs...?
I will love to see some examples or links, my main goal is to get good conversion.

    If you do this with other platforms then you already know: it's not the platform or the themes (=design) or the plugins that convert.

    It's the targeted traffic and the excellent (matching) product.

    One thing to look into, I recall someone advising that shopping cart/merchant account setups might not approve sites including wordpress, since it's a potential entry point for hackers.

    By 'Convert' do you mean will your store get loads of sales if you use WP as the platform?

    Or

    Do you mean. Can I convert WP into a fully functioning ecommerce platform?

    If you mean the latter. Then you should look at this plugin. WordPress Ecommerce a WordPress Shopping Cart Plugin I've heard its the best way to 'convert' WP into a fully functioning store.

    wordpress ecommerce should be good if you have only limited products and you do not need lot of functionality.

    Whatever your site theme you can make it as an online store. It is actually the traffic not the theme.
