Just updated to WordPress 3.2, did I screw up?

So I just updated a blog and went to post an article but I don't have any of the tools available to me other than add image, audio, media etc. The paragraph formatting is available, but that is all. None of the icons are available to me. I have lost the second row but that is always toggled by an icon in the first row. Now none of them are available. What gives?

I wonder if you have a conflicting plug-in. Try disabling them and see if your icons come back.

Yep.. I upgraded and everything was fine. But certain plugins don't work particularly well with the new one. I'd disable all WYSIWYG plugins or image inserting plugins.

Oh well, all is well that ends well. I am so confused.....:confused::confused:

When you are on the "Edit Post" screen, look at the top-right of your browser screen, & click "Screen Options". Select the options you want to see.

I lost an entire database on one of my blogs with over 7,000 pages when I updated. I now have to start all over Luckily most of it was CB reviews and can be replaced quickly.

If this is true (which I am skeptical of) then you obviously didn't follow the instructions that are in bold right above the Update Now button saying to BACK UP YOUR DATABASE BEFORE UPGRADING.

every WordPress user should install a database back-up plugin and have it scheduled to backup at least once a week.

Or use the export tool so that all you posts, pages and comments are saved intact in an xml file which you can import into a fresh WordPress install should you need to.

        I do both.

Upgrading wordpress sure is a pain. Never know exactly what might happen. Its wise not to ignore that message up the top telling you to backup first. Most hosts back up your data automatically anyhow so I dont see how you could lose everything? Ask your webhost if they know where those 7000 pages went.

Yeah there's a little button which says "show/hide kitchen sink" on the top row of buttons. It's the second from the right on the top row. I accidentally clicked that once/lost my kitchen sink and was racking my brain trying to figure out what I did until I came upon that. But yes if you're superstitious you could chalk your recovery up to WF.

All my upgrades went through smoothly without any hitch.
I guess this is a local problem and WP seems to be OK
