    What is Wordpress Direct?

Wordpress is website / blogging software. wordpress direct seems to be some kind website building service. Two different things.

If you're asking whether do build your site yourself and hire someone else to do it, then I'll definitely say learn to build it yourself. The experience will help you in the long term.

I have never come across wordpress direct before. I guess it depends on what you are looking to do. But if you want a decent site with tons of cutomisation you should set your blog/site up on wordpress.

Having just googled wordpress direct and looking at its pricing structure, you can get the same functionality of what it is offering just by adding relevant plugins yourself.

Wordpress Direct is paid blog platform I believe, it's something like an opt-in Network for SEO link building.

    I would stick with WordPress.

    Hope this helps.

WP Direct is a subscription service (I believe you can have one limited free site) that is designed to get your WP site out there for quicker rankings. It makes your SEO plug n play in theory. It also will auto post content, etc. I used it for a while and although getting a WP site up was really easy I was not impressed with their support. It was a while ago.

To answer your question, Wordpress is simply the platform for the blog/site. Free.

        Hope that helps.

As a rule of thumb: when you are using a 3rd party service - you are not in control. Period.

Wordpress direct does make it easier to build your website by having all the main plugins etc. already built in. There's some other functions too like autoblogging and adsense is built in. You can also integrate some features of Market Samurai with it and it's used as the blogging platform for Ed Dale's Challenge every year.

Wordpress is completely hands on where you build your site completely yourself. Wordpress direct allows you to have one website up for free after that you pay for however many websites you want to add. I personally don't see the need to have wordpress direct unless you would rather not take the time to set up wordpress yourself.
