Hey Guys,
I recently bought a wordpress blog in a box kinda thing and when i purchased it i received everything in the folder you would have on the site(sorry i don't really know how to explain this...)

The folder contains these kind of folders:
wp-admin
wp-content
wp-includes
data.sql
fantversion.php
index.php
license.txt
readme.html
wp-activate.php
wp-app.php
wp-atom.php
wp-blog-header.php
wp-comments-post.php
wp-commentsrss2.php
wp-config-sample.php

how would I manage to install this? I have asked for support but haven't got a response yet(I asked 2 days ago).

My first thought would be to try double-clicking
the readme.html file.

There's probably a better than 50/50 chance
you'll find instructions there.

  that readme.html file is a wordpress style instruction sheet.
  
  this is what it says:
  Installation: Famous 5-minute install
  
  Unzip the package in an empty directory and upload everything.
  
  Open wp-admin/install.php in your browser. It will take you through the process to set up a wp-config.php file with your database connection details.
  If for some reason this doesn't work, don't worry. It doesn't work on all web hosts. Open up wp-config-sample.php with a text editor like WordPad or similar and fill in your database connection details.
  
  Save the file as wp-config.php and upload it.
  
  Open wp-admin/install.php in your browser.
  
  Once the configuration file is set up, the installer will set up the tables needed for your blog. If there is an error, double check your wp-config.php file, and try again. If it fails again, please go to the support forums with as much data as you can gather.
  
  If you did not enter a password, note the password given to you. If you did not provide a username, it will be admin.
  
  The installer should then send you to the login page. Sign in with the username and password you chose during the installation. If a password was generated for you, you can then click on 'Profile' to change the password.

  You simply upload all these files to your domain. Then you enter in your browser... your domain.com/wp-admin (replace yourdomain.com with whatever your domain is).
  
  That will take you to the backend of your WordPress blog. Simply enter your user name and password (which are probably in the readme file) and you should be set to go.

I sure hope you didn't buy a copy of Wordpress.

If you bought an actual website, you would need a Wordpress Export File (.xml extension) or the database itself.

I seem to remember I had a problem like that with my new site when I had video instructions for host -gator but they would not accept my web name so I went to Dot easy .com but their program was not working so I had to go alternate and figured it out by the time support said: just e-mail us all your instructions and we will get it installed for you!
So what I am saying is
1)did you ask support from the place whear you got this stuff? And also from word-press? Because both or at least one should be happy to help!
So ask them both and if that will not work see if you can get support from youir hosting company saying :"maybe these will not work with your hosting-can you see if you can get these installed or give me special install instructions?
HERE ARE MY PERSONAL INSTRUCTIONS FROM MEMORY FOR MY WORDE PRESS INSTALL:
Go into your word press c-panel, log in, make sure you are there. Go on left column and go :"PLUG-ins". Then, "new". Then see the list and pick out the first one.Highlight it or whatever, then click "ADD" Now it should give message it is installed

no i didn't purchase wordpress, i purchase a blog-in-a-box kinda thing, which included articles and custom theme.

Hey there, if it is what I think it is then you might want to try this:

1) use addon domains to add the domain
2) install wordpress on the domain with 'fantastico' from cPanel
3) Replace the files with the one you have.
4) Go to phpmyadmin and select your installed blog SQL. Delete (drop)
all existing tables/files and import the SQL file (extract the zip format and upload the SQL).

Hi again,

For WordPress to work, you need the files uploaded to your domain AND you need to set up a MySQL database in your cPanel account. Your install is looking for the database - it can establish the connection.

Brendan, what you've got there is a basic outline for Wordpress itself; the same thing can be auto-installed through Cpanel on your hosting (if you have it).

Then... hopefully the "website" in a box thing that you've purchase will be contained within the WP-content folder - that's where custom themes / plugins go.

So what you need to do is *install Wordpress* >>> THEN install the custom theme and plugins. It's a whole lot simpler than it's been made out to be here.

By the look of your screen shot just above you *do* have Cpanel access; and I can tell you now you *do not* need to set up a MySQL database yourself etc etc etc.

Take a look at my recent post with free Wordpress video tutorials. Tutorials 1 - 6 cover the installation and setting up or Wordpress, themes, and custom plugins.

These will get you 90% of the way to where you need to be. You may even be able to figure out the rest by yourself....

But once everything is installed, simply upload the contents of the WP-CONTENT folder, and then your custom theme and plug-ins should be ... automatically installed - you'll just need to activate them.

I am generally very good with wordpress, just had no idea about this sql and setting up blogs like this.
I will keep trying with these methods..

ok got progress..

i replaced the files and now i get this error message when i visit my site:

Warning: require(/home/clickb21/public_html/homesolarpowerv.info/wp-includes/load.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/clickb21/public_html/homesolarpowerv.info/wp-settings.php on line 19

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/clickb21/public_html/homesolarpowerv.info/wp-includes/load.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/clickb21/public_html/homesolarpowerv.info/wp-settings.php on line 19
