When launching your first WSO how do you get testimonials?

Try contacting some friends or colleagues on the forum and ask them to review it before you launch. That way you have a solid base and it will give other warriors some trust to buy your WSO

So is it permissible to have a thread asking for reviews before going live with the real WSO? What discussion forum would it go under?

Look at that...you were writing the answer while I was typing the question! Never mind, everyone!

Best way to never get it done, IMO. Don't let perfection stand in the way of good enough...

Do a good job, but perfect is hardly the point.

It would be good to request a few testimonials from Warriors before launch. Don't post your request in the Product Reviews forum though.

As weird as it may sound, the Product Reviews forum doesn't allow you to let others review your products before you launch them. Only after. (correct me if I'm wrong!) So you're pretty much much stuck with private messaging members. Good luck!

Yes, and if you give out 20 review copies, you should unfortunately expect 1 or 2 to run off with your review copy and never give a review. It's sad to say, but true. Just try to get reputable members to review your WSO - that way you'll maximize the reviews you'll get.

      Sell it...

If it is good people will comment freely telling others it is good.

      Now you got real testimonials.

If a seller offers free copies for testimonials in the copy, I tend to think less of those products.

I would recommend contacting friends on the forum and asking them for help.

I often send out review copies to friends, but I rarely ask for a direct review of the product. I prefer for people to WANT to leave a review.

Another option is to make the report available for free download in the War Room, prior to its release as a WSO. I have not yet used this option.

if the product is given away for the expectation of a testimonial, is that considered a paid testimonial/endorser?

You can post a thread in the JV Forum giving away free review copies, but not in Product Reviews and definitely not in this section.

Be careful about sending unsolicited PMs to Warriors asking for reviews, if they're not people you know already. Many consider it spam and will complain to the mods about it.

You can also just go ahead and start the WSO and give away the first X number of copies as free reviews in exchange for feedback -- some people do that.

Beyond that, check out the thread that Istvan links to a few posts above.
