Leaving money on the table....

I realized something not to long ago, many of us leave money on the table.

A few months back a photographer who has an office in our building wanted his website redesigned. As I'm still learning the ins and outs of wordpress and building websites sites I decided to pass it along to another warrior who then recommended a web developer. Now mind you this photographer is completely old school and not very computer saavy at all.

The web guy charged him for the site only and said he did not offer services for setting up domains or webhosting, I helped him set up his hostgator account and domain name in exchange for lunch.

The web guy said he didn't offer graphic services, so I resized his photos, showed him some macros on photoshop and set up his images for the web in exchange for a few bucks.

The web guy said he didn't have time to upload pictures every month (really dude???), so I gave the photog a price to format and upload his pictures to his site once a month.

The web guy didn't do google places, so I set up his google places for him for a fee.

Now I'm upselling him on seo and video marketing.

This photographer just wanted someone who could take care of all of his web needs for him without having to think, worry or learn for a decent monthly price. It takes me about an hour to set his stuff up and get it on his page every month and I get paid. It's not riches and I'm sure offline seo types charge much more, but it puts gas in my car and lunch in my belly so I can't complain.

What services and products are you not offering your clients? How much money are you leaving on the table? Because trust me, someone else will step in and take that money that clients are trying so hard to give away. People pay to have their problems solved and to have it done easily .

That's an interesting thing to think about. So what exactly did the web developer provide lol? I think one of the reasons that people leave these guaranteed jobs on the table is that they are 1)Afraid they can't handle the project or 2) Don't think they have time to do it.

If people learned to take a few more chances and make a daily schedule for themselves to stay organized they could be making so much more.
