My First Commission Sale!!!

Thank you Warriors! It has been a long journey and just as I was about to give up, I saw that I had my first sale! Actually, I had 2!

I first started with Adsense, got banned and then used Chitika, Adbrite and a host of other CPM and PPC sites... and they didnt get me anywhere.

After a lot of advice from Warriors, I checked out linkshare.com and started writing reviews for affiliates. I wrote an honest review and inserted links that had to do with the review and someone actually bought the product I was reviewing! Pretty amazing feeling. The keyboard that they bought wasn't cheap either ($49.99). Unfortunately I only got $1 for that sale lol.

Anyway, thank you guys so much for all the advice. The $3 I made so far is enough to motivate me for another month or so

      Congratulations.

The good news is that was the hardest you'll ever have to work for another dollar online. Every one after this becomes easier and easier with experience.

Congratulations, Your first dollar is the most important one you will ever make online, because this dollar is the one that tells your subconscious mind that "hay I can do this, This works". I remember when I made my first dollar, I couldn't contain my excitement. Not because a dollar is a lot of money, but because I new for sure this idea of making money online was possible. It was that first dollar that kept me believing.

Yep, it's strange how making 1 dollar online can bring such a huge amount of joy and excitement to someone who makes thousands every month offline.

Congrats you have achieved more than 90% of people out there because:

      YOU TOOK ACTION

You made it happen and now you realise you can do it all you have to do is keep going, your first dollar is the hardest!

Find products with higher comissions and keep at it.

      My favorite quote:

"It doesn't matter how slow you go as long as you do not stop"
      The wisdom of confucius

By the way it's just as easy to promote a $600 product as it is to promote a $50 one.

Well done keep up the good work.
      Regards

I agree...but I don't think that is what gives me a rush or it ever did. One thing I always got excited to see was my website on the first page of Google SERPs. And I still do. Now that depends since I am NOT really aiming for money, but I am aiming for exposure.

To the OP, not to get diverted from the topic, go and celebrate your first dollar. But do remember what worked this time, so that you can replicate for the next endeavors.

And just one thing, don't rest assured ever. This is the dark, dark, online world. Start building backups right now.

Awesome work - the commission amount is not the most important thing.

The IMPORTANT thing is that now you have made that first sale you can do it time and time again with a bit of work of course...

    Congrats!

    Everydayreviews...Congratulations!

Funny cause last week I had announced my 1st sale was actually 2 as well. While I envy the fact you had success with Linkshare, I still haven't had a successful sale with them yet.

Somebody once told me that the amount of work that goes into a $1 commission is the same as that of earning a $100 commission.

Therefore, keep in mind there are programs out there (like Ewen Chia's - Instant Paycheck) that pay instant commissions from $19.97 -$43.47 directly deposited into your PayPal account. In fact, my first 2 sales came from Ewen's Instant Paycheck. As you mentioned, I wrote an honest review, and week later caught two $19.97 sales.

The only downside was PayPal charges like a$1.08 per transaction, and to promote the program you have to buy it first for $19.97. To date, I have made 3 sales and have had several opt-ins. Should you want to know more visit my sig link: Flood Your PayPal Account With Cash...it works!

Honestly, when I saw my first 2 sales, it was quite relieving to know everything Was finally coming together and that it was doable. So, irregardless of the money I was stoked that something I was doing was working!

Now that you've broken the ice, I hope that excitement fuels many sales to come!

    Congrats!

Good for you. The first sale is usually the most difficult. Once you get there, just repeat and scale up what you did to make the first dollar. Some people refer to it as rinse and repeat. Keep it up. You'll get there!

Awesome, as John Reese would say -
The first dollar that you make online is the most powerful, as that is when your brain flips the switch from being hopeful about making money online, to KNOWING that you can make money online, because you have already done it. You simply have to take what you have done and leverage it out.
    Congratulations!

Just my question to everyone who has made their first, second or third sale, what are you doing to increase and HOLD it?

I should accept something here. I am not really an internet marketer. I am a copywriter and I run my own blogs, for exposure and brand popularity. No focus on money as of yet!

But don't you think you cannot get continuing sales from Clickbank alone? So, how are you gonna keep it up over time? Just curious to know your idea.
      {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[4257693].message }}

    schttrj,

I personally haven't focused much on Clickbank yet. I tried setting up a Google Adwords account and was suspended for life as I was unaware trying to place affiliate ads was not welcomed with Big "G"....oops!

However, my passion is writing. Therefore, having learned how to utilize some simple SEO techniques structured in the way I now write my reviews has proven to land me pr1 rankings, and is now responsible for roughly 40% of my traffic.

To answer your question; whether you choose to promote a CB affiliate product, a JV product, or a product or service of your own, the marketing strategies really do not change. I personally feel to have finally conquered a huge mountain seeing my sites on page 1 of the major search engines, and accredit my1st sales to apply simple SEO practices.

While I consider myself one concerned for maintaining ethical business practices, I too am still learning, but it helps if you believe in the products or services you are selling/promoting. Hence I think the bottom line to making consistant sales is based on your relationship to that which you promote, and being passionate about the service you are providing others.

Also, there is a strange irony because I too was not concerned about the money, I was simply practicing what I was learning, and wouldn't you know my first sales all came from 4 hours of practice/work.

Yet, other projects I have countless hours invested into have not earned a penny yet. However, if you write an honest and informative review, optimize the review with targeted keywords, and help others solve their problem or provide solution to their desires, that is a service that requires atalent you already possess; writing.

I used to think webdesigners had the upper hand and sure it helps...but one thing that trumps all else is the written word! Without quality content (writing) nobody can succeed online or off!
