To Facebook or Not?

Is Facebook really all that? I used to do PPC there when it was about .15 a click, a long time ago!

Now we have this Fan Page craze, all the big corps are doing it. I have purchased some really good FP software that makes two page Fan Pages and it's great for give-a-ways and such as they must like the first page to get to the download page.

So, I give some great stuff away, get hundreds of likes and you know what? Nothing happens.

If I try to market to my "Fans" I get next to nothing for a response rate. Most of them are marketers themselves and only like yours so you'll like theirs.

It's a vicious circle and seems a waste of time. I've been making my living online for 6 years in IM, but this seems foolish.

Am I doing something wrong?

    I bolded the part that you're doing wrong.

    Get fans that are interested in your page's topic and/or your products/services, instead of other marketers that are only liking your page so you'll like their pages in return.

    Use the FB ads to get targeted fans, if it's within your budget to do so. You can still get some pretty cheap clicks if you do it right.
