Is "Think & Grow Rich" Listed In Public Domain?

Hi guys.I'm just wondering whether "Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill" Is Listed In Public Domain list or not?
I keep seeing a lot of websites that provide copy for anyone to download or read online.Recently I went to few bookstores and saw that book again but published by different publishers.Im confused? If it's listed in public domain list can I cash in from the contents?
(Ex:sell the online copy)

Thanks

Yes it is. But I hear it is still a really good book. You can grab it and promote it too.

Yes, the original book is. Several publishers have updated
it in one way or another and those editions carry their
    own copyrights.

The book was published in 1936 or so which would not normally
put it in the PD yet... but the copyright was not renewed
in the 50s so it IS Public Domain.

Do your homework on any book you want to re-publish.
Recently somebody was passing around a PDF of
"How To Win Friends and Influence People" thinking that
because it is old it is PD. It is not. Doing that is asking
for a lawsuit from Simon and Schuster.

There is an edition of Think and Grow Rich that is in the public domain. I haven't done the research myself, so won't comment as to which one.

There are several dangers of picking one up that you think might be in the public domain and republishing it.

    1. Don't assume because someone else is publishing it that it is in the public domain. They may have paid for the rights to publish it.

    2. Someone who has republished the public domain edition may have edited it and added their own content. The new content would be copyrighted.

John is right. There's ONE edition that's public domain. The rest are very zealously protected by, if I recall correctly, the Napoleon Hill Foundation, which owns the rights to the other editions.

I'd be very careful with stuff like this. Even Project Gutenberg won't touch that book.

Paul is absolutely correct. The Napoleon Hill Foundation is extremely "protective" of their material.

Get the wrong edition and you are begging for a problem.

I admire anyone trying to make an honest buck, but to try to do it with the granddaddy of all success manuals would be stretching it. If you could pull it off then fair play to you. However, the chance that you may overlook any legal particulars to it may be more trouble than its worth.
Good luck tho! There may be a loophole somewhere.

The public domain market has changed since Google dumped thousands of titles on-line. Why not promote existing book via affiliate programs until you are sure you could sell your own version?

I've handled a number of public domain works, many hours of setup, not always producing income. If you test using an existing affiliate program, properly done, you'll know for sure which title is worth your time.

    Best,

The version that is in the public domain is the 1st edition published in 1937. The copyright was not renewed on it.

Another serious book, which some feel is superior to NH's TAGR, is Haanel's MasterKey System. It predates TAGR and Hill has clearly borrowed both ideas and terminology from it. Not to slam Hill's work, which is a monster classic. But there is some very useful stuff in the earlier work.
