Wordpress plugin for category organization?

Hey Folks.

I did a search for this and didn't find what I was looking for.

The categories on one of my Wordpress sites are in alphabetical order, which I do not want. I want to customize the order in which they appear.

So I was wondering if someone with experience could refer me to a plugin that they have used, and like?

Thanks in advance!

Remove the category block, and hard code in the links to your categories by hand.

OK that sounds like it makes sense. But I am new to blogging with Wordpress and have no idea how to do that at all?

Wordpress control panel - themes - edit - pick theme - sidebar

Your going to have to know some basic html coding before you get started.

If your new to wordpress, get ahold of Istvan here on the warriorforum, he knows his stuff about wordpress. And go to the wordpress.org site and read through their help sections.

Be sure to backup your theme before you make changes.

Here is an actual plugin for WordPress:
WordPress › My Category Order « WordPress Plugins

It will do the job for you, but in the long run, you would be better coding it yourself, rather than slowing your blog down with a load of plugins, although, of course, it will depend on how many you are already using.

Have a look at AVH Extended Categories Widget. It's a free plugin, easy to use and allows quite a lot of customisation.

Excellent... I'm very thankful for this, Folks.

I will try those two plugins for now, and brush-up on my HTML as you suggested.

If your going to be running a website, you really need to have some basic HTML skills.

Even if its just adding a link, adding a title tag to a link, having a link open in a new window, changing colors in the CSS, bolding a link,,,,, your going to need to know basic html.

You're right, and I've known it for a while... I've just always had some excuse to do something else. So I'll buckle-down for a few weeks and get it done. Thanks for telling it to me straight.
