Hi

I am working on making camtasia style video tutorials for the computer gaming niche...its a computer PC game and I want to demonstrate the tips by actually playing it while teaching Camtasia screen style.

Any tips on what size & setting to use?
it will be for a membership site.

1) What is ideal size & setting for viewing on the internet for Camtasia software?

2) What is ideal size & setting to download using Camtasia software?

3) What is ideal length for each video? Any other tips? Create separate videos for each session/tip or create chapter toc style video?

Thank you so much!

BJ

    BJ,

The size of the video will really depend on how much detail you are trying to show. Only you will know the right size by doing a recording of what it is you are trying to teach/demonstrate and see if it is all nicely visible for the user. Remember for really small details that Camtasia has the zoom/pan feature so you can zoom in on certain details however keep in mind, all this zooming does add to the file size so you are often better to just increase the actual size of the video rather than doing a whole heap of zooming.

I would probably start with an mp4 video with dimensions of 640 x 480 and then see how you go from there. If there is not enough detail visible then you can either increase the dimensions or use some zooming in certain parts.

I record in 640x480 so it renders faster and looks alright on Youtube (I usually put a couple of vids from each product there).

I produce video as "for the web" so it creates the HTML and makes it easy to upload to Amazon S3 or wherever

I set mine to 1280 x 720, as I want to produce 720p HD videos. Seems to work well.
