"Does My Fake Screenshot Look Convincing?"

Had to share this.. almost spat out my coffee when reading this email.

I could point out all the things wrong with this (besides asking me if a screenshot looks real !?!). Once I stopped laughing it's the first time I've had to delete someone from my list.

  • That is too funny... and we wonder why the IM industry gets such a bad rap. I am still amazed by some of the stuff I come across.
  • Well, technically he didn't state it is a fake screenshot; he just asked if it looks real If people are having trouble telling fake screenshots from real ones, it logically follows that they will have trouble telling real ones from fake ones.

The title of the thread: " Does My Fake Screenshot Look Convincing?"

  • Hahaha,

You are so right... there are so many people who believe that IM is all about scamming people.

At a point, I wanted to put a post to show people how easy it is to fake earnings shots, without using Photoshop. My (wishful) thinking was that it would make people more careful before buying into "proof"

But then, I realized certain people would take it as a lesson on how to scam others. So I just left it alone.
  • I had a look at this sales page and the screenshot is fake, the CB stats don't make sense.
  • Yeah I think those are so overused now that they are no longer convincing, to the point where some people have to take videos of themselves logging in to their CB accounts!

    • Another good reason not to pay any attention to screenshots on a sales page. They are damn hard to ignore though
    • Sadly, those have been and are being faked too. At some point people will just video themselves walking into their bank with their C.P.A. doing a real live stream webcast to prove what they earned, of course with everyone in the video showing real time, signed affadavits!!

  • *sigh* i hate people like this guy, I truly do.

I am drinking coffee btw, I almost spit mine out too
  • Yep it gives the rest of us a bad name.

I figure the guy is either a noob and doesn't understand how we do things, has a warped view of the industry and believes it's what everyone is doing.

Or he is just a scumbag.

    • Amazing one. The guy is not really new, right? I mean, look, he has been on your list for 2 months (or that is what he claims, unless the claim was wrong). Surely you do learn a lot in 2 serious months, unless the only thing you want to learn is how to scam people?
    • Maybe it is a little of all the above.

However, in his defense, I can see how he could be lead to the conclusion that it is OK to fake a screenshot. Honest to god, just how many do you actually think are real? 50%, 25%, 10% ??

I may be far to pessimistic, but I really doubt that very many of the screenshots we see are relevant, either because they have been "touched up" or because they have nothing to do with sales generated by the product they are promoting...

The voice and actions of the honest ethical marketer have been far overrun by the loudmouth, hype and jive artists that it is getting hard to believe in any ad copy that has "proof" of income screenshots in it these days.

      [sigh]

  • People are so silly. If your going to fake a screenshot why in the hell would you tell anyone, or even ask if it looks fake? There is no way in hell people could be that dumb?

Oh well, lump them into the same category as those who ask for help on a message board when there sig file is promoting "expert advice" on the very question they are seeking an answer to...

EDIT: Obviously it is NOT ok to create a fake screen shot for "income proof." Your dumb to even try, and even dumber to ask someone if it looks fake if you attempted to do it.
  • Can't blame that guy. He must've been scammed by someone therefore he may have thought that internet marketing and product creation is all about trying to create fake stuff and sell it to people with a guarantee period before which they will forget about asking refund.
    • [1] reply
    • You can certainly blame the guy for being an unethical moron.

  • lol because of guys like him IMers are getting a bad image i doubt he will succeed online he will get more refunds requests then making money of his fake screenshots .
LOL@it's the first time I've had to delete someone from my list. did he re opt in? or you blocked him for good?
  • WAIT..... So you guys are saying that using a fake screenshot of earning is not good? lol...

I havent used a screenshot of earnings yet, but almost did when I launched my product. But the only challenge is that I use my Paypal account for everything so I have payments coming in from everywhere and also withdrawals for using my Paypal debit card daily. So I guess I would need to do a little photoshop just to show earnings...lol

Apparently here is a kick ass screenshot of Brad Gosse's latest earnings! WOW!

I saw Brad speak at the Warrior Networking event a few weeks ago and he did mention that at one point his Paypal account got frozen and now I can see why! He must have broke the system with all that cash coming in!

Apparently he is teaching you how you can get the same results in under 5 minutes! This should be a WSO!

  • That is a nice chank of change for zero work done.
  • I always love it when people write me offering me "the opportunity to become my affiliate"....as if they are doing me the favor by paying a pitly ass commission in return for me turning over the best leads on my list to them to do with as they please.

I send out affiliate offers all the time, but only to those who will give something to me of equal or greater value in return, and it's not a commission check I can cash one time after a launch.

  • He earned himself the title as most honest scam creator since IM
  • What has the world come to, when a person expects others to fall for such failure.

    • These kind of dishonest people are disgusting.

  • I will be glad to judge whether your fake boobs look real, but you're barking up the wrong tree if you want me to critique your fake earnings.

    • LOL! EBR said Boobs!

  • Mick why are you outing me bro?

It's not my fault I'm amateur with the photoshop
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Lol, I love Russ's rendition. You really have to look twice to see if it's real or not .

Thanks to the OP. This is embarrassing, but funny.
  • ALL screenshots look fake to me. I have never seen a single one that looks real. I can't be bothered to do detective work - I just ignore them all.
  • Haha, well asking this is just wrong xD

I would love to see this sales page. How bad was the screenshot? Its sad how many of those things actually trick newbies though. Back when I first started that was the easiest way to sell me on a product. I would see a clickbank stat page that had a few days of zeros and then thousands of dollars and I would salivate. I thought I could really make that kind of money with like three days of effort. Boy was I naive.
  • I'll blank out the product details in photoshop and post the screenshot when I get a chance.

Subscribed to the thread and you can bet that I'll be waiting for it I could use a good laugh today.
  • You know, there are still a lot of people that sell products making fake claims. I'm not naming any names, but a particular WSO I bought recently made claims of earnings - no screen shots, mind you, just claims - then when I go through the program to implement the method it's not something that can actually be done! (or parts of it)

Now how could the dude be making $xxxx a month from something that he can't actually do himself?...

So, while I do agree that there are lots of folks out there that create great products that have educated me and helped me with my own IM, there are still some folks that are just plain out lying about their products. I now automatically assume that all screenshots are fake, and will generally avoid any products making earnings claims...

  • That tops my best IM newsletter to date: "How to use Yahoo Answers to drive traffic to your website and ...." (you can guess the rest). I opted out after that one.

Stupider still in its own way: the product service I double opted in to use, and who then followed up with two identical e-mails that pimped the same products, had zero added value in them, and which had different titles; and who then followed it up the next day with the exact same email offer from a completely different address and subject, but the same logo inside, and exact same product (or "tip" as they called it).

First newsletter I've received after an opt-in that's prompted me to report it as a fishing scam instead of simply opting opting out: I signed up for a newsletter, I didn't give permission to spam my inbox with duplicate email with three subjects lines sent from two addresses over a 2 day period.

  • Never fails there will always be people ruining it for the rest of us. People let the bad get rid of the good. Not fair if you ask me.

I have seen so many sales pages that have fake written all over them. I tend to look at stuff people offer just to keep up. Not at all cool!
    • [1] reply
    • I can deal with the fake because there is so much of it there. Harder to deal with are the sales pages that I have to scroll until the end of time (which in reality means my hitting the back button first, then getting past the "yes I really don't wish to be blinded by any more of your crap" prompts that come up), are filled with endless rows of big bold face red text, 200 testimonials, 300 reasons why I want to buy it, 400 reasons I want to buy it now, and 500 reasons why it would be a mistake to miss this ONE TIME ONLY offer you'll show me again as soon as I try and close the tab.

Hint to those doing this: if your product, or sales ability, isn't good enough to hook me with one viewable page, your odds decrease twice as much with two, and astronomically plummet with each additional page added. They don't scream "buy" they scream "worthless crap" and "scam." And you've just provided at least one new person all the incentive they need to install an ad blocker that hurts the rest of us who understand the difference between the art of selling and abject desperation.

  • Haha, now I like the way the OP interpreted it. If that is how it was meant "hey man did I photoshop this well enough?", then this is a hilarious topic. If not, he needs to proofread what he writes.
  • It's got my "stamp of approval" to prevent other idiots from using it - but you'd have to be really dumb to use this.

    • [1] reply
    • Indeed. The idiocy on display is very much in-line with that shown you in the original email. Which begs the question, how to reward for consistency if nothing else?

I can think of several good e-card services where you can send her a fitting thank you.
  • I don't blame this guy at all for thinking that's how the MMO niche works, that's hilarious though.
  • ha ha, nice income.

I think there is a website and a marketer that shows you how to fake these screen shots. Its sad when you actually see people do it to put on their sites.
  • We all know there are a lot of charlatans out there who will do anything for few backs. Short time benefit for long time pain! The truth will inevitable catch up with them...
  • It's people like this that makes the internet marketing industry look bad
  • if you're going to go around faking things...

... at least get some booze out of the deal.
