Am I selling myself short?

I got an offer for putting a text link on my "pest" site, $15 per month. However, I haven't signed off on it, because I'm thinking that perhaps I should ask for more or say no.

semrush says that for my main keyword:

4,400 US searches per month, $1.32 CPC

I am in 2nd position in Google for that keyword.

Your thoughts?

If I could get some pay per lead deals set up, that would be great. I don't know how to find any though. Tips?

Personally, I think you have a good deal there.

The going rate for a PR3 website text link can be as little as $1 per month!

You might be able to squeeze $20-30 p/m out of the buyer if you can talk the talk.

Maybe you could even up-sell some advertising space to make up the numbers.

As long as the text link won't be detrimental to your website, then I would go for it.

    Keep up the good work!

Yes, you have a good deal - take it!

Typically $10 a month is what is offered by people seeking links for a site like yours. Link buyers (at least on my sites) seem to be more interested in the links that are coming into your site and the age than where you rank or what keyword you target.

Keep a close eye on your analytics when you place the text link! I once secured a deal like this for a client, and the website owner emailed me three days later saying his search engine traffic dropped 35% from putting that link on his site. It was due to the keyword we chose, simply changing the anchor text solved the problem.

Other than that- if it's a monthly deal take it! If you get better offers coming in you can always end the deal the following month and request more money. And like highrank said, try to up-sell some advertising space.

The value of the link depends on the quality of traffic your site is getting as well as the prospect`s individual interest.

4.400 US searches/month don`t say much though if they are related to a broad search volume. What really determines the link value is the "exact" search volume of your keyword, which can be determined by google adwords tool.

4,400 is the actually Exact match for the key phrase in question. I am getting very targeted traffic from it.

Why would anyone risk G Rankings while selling links for 15$ per month is really out of my understanding...

    But you're the boss

I know, I know! I guess it could be risky. Google sometimes bans sites that sell text links that aren't labeled as such, right?

Google bans/penalizes every kind of sites: good, bad and in between. But to be honest, sell advertising for 15$ per month it's just... insane. Why don't you sell the site? Why don't you create a rental model? If there is a demand for that niche, your site ranks high, has laser traffic... so why keep yourself low ball for 15$ per month?

Dude, I have sites in different markets (thats for sure) but a simple NOFOLLOW banner starts at 100$ per month, with at least 6 months contract. Why should I send 10/30 people per day to a company so they can make their profit - unless I get paid pretty well? If they don't want to pay for advertising with me, fine, they can pay 0.60$ in PPC and ruin 300$ fast for NOT SO good traffic. Plus, with growing confidence business owners usually want to have more power, like a small review, or a banner with "Top Rated..." you know?

I don't sell myself short, and to be honest I don't advice anyone to do it. This is the internet, we're the experts. People want laser traffic? Pay for it.

That or open one account here and learn for 7 years what I know now.

        Simple.

I am not sure if it's the site you listed, but you can probably get more per month if you remove the adsense. However, you'd need to see which works best for your site. You could also contact people using adwords and mention to them you are in 2nd position organically. If you did that, I would personalize the e-mail, comment on their site specifically and not make use a copy and paste template. You could also send e-mails to local businesses in the niche and offer an advertising package.

I don't think you should take it- especially if its your main site.

Sure it's kind of passive income, but staying at @2 (and hopefully getting to #1) in the Big G is MUCH more important than $15 a month.

Like highrank said, you may get 20-30 if you present it correctly.
