Thank you Warrior Forum and goodbye

There comes a time in your life when you have to let go of the things you love. For the past 5 years I have worked at making money online as a sideline business to offset the income my wife made in her full time job. I did it because I was doing something I love doing and it was something I could do and still stay home and take care of my kids at the same time. Those days seem to be over for me now though.

Four months ago my wife had a very bad auto accident. She fractured her front and back left pelvic bone and completely crushed her right ankle bone. The pelvic bone was fixed and has already healed however the surgery there has left her with partial numbness in her left leg and her foot is limp. This means she has no movement of her left foot but can stand on it. Her right ankle is still being worked on. The first surgery put in about 5 screws to hold together her ankle bone since it had fractured into 5 pieces. She also had a bar placed on her lower left leg bone to fix a fracture there. The leg bone has healed but the ankle bone died out and will have to be taken out. However, last week we had to come in for emergency surgery because her ankle had gotten infected and they had to remove the hardware. Now we will have to do 6 weeks of antibiotics before they can do a fusion to fuse her ankle to her leg bones.

Because of all of this I am taking care of my wife 24/7 and have had to pretty much give up any chance of getting online. Because of the complications it is now looking like it will be at least 6 more months before I can even think about getting back online for more than a few seconds a day. I have had to make the decision to let my IM stuff go and concentrate on my family.
I am saying goodbye to one part of my life to put everything I have into another part but before I go let me share with you some of the things I have learned from my time here.

1) Everyone knows something someone else is willing to pay money to learn.

2) Make friends whenever you can. Just talking to someone on the forum or in chats doesn't really count. Become real friends with people. Become involved in their life and let them become involved in yours. Become real friends with people. This one thing can make a world of difference in every aspect of your life, not just the business aspects.

3) All the knowledge in the world does you no good if you don't use it. Stop reading and start doing. It doesn't matter that you don't know everything because no one else does either. Start now and do something. The keep doing things and learning as you go. You can't make money just by reading an ebook or forum post, that requires action on your part.

4) Automation is your friend. I see posts day after day by people asking questions about things that they are doing manually that should be fully automated. Payment processing, product delivery, list management, etc. can all be automated to the point that you can have a money making and list building site that requires virtually no work from you once it is set up.

5) Take the time to learn how to use the tools you buy. A lot of people will buy an automation tool but never learn how to use it. At the very least you can learn how to save time using these tools, but you could potentially turn those tools into money making services that you can do for others who don't have access to the tools you use.

These are just a few of the many things I have learned in my time here. I want to thank everyone I have met over the years. Many of you have touched not just my life but the lives of every member of my family and I will forever be grateful for having been a part of the Warrior family.

Thank you and goodbye.

So sorry to hear about your wife. I hope she recovers quickly. My prayers are with you. In the mean time thanks so much for sharing your experiences, perspective and opinions. I totally agree with you on many points, especially about adding value, making friends, etc. I've found there are many people on this forum who are happy to share of themselves and provide wonderful information and support without expectation of anything other than appreciation.

So I hope things go well for you and can return to share in some of the discussions and community here soon.

I like to think that everything happens for a reason. In this way I force myself to try to learn and take something of value from each situation I find myself in (good or bad). Therefore, I hope that as this door closes you are watching for the next one that opens.

I wish a speedy recovery to your wife and the best to both of you.

I couldn't agree more with your 3rd statement - taking action is the only way to find success. No matter how many times you might fail, by moving forward and learning from your mistakes, success is just a step away.

I wish you and your wife the best of luck. Take care of yourself and your family. IM will always be here, ready for you to pick back up when the time is right.

    Johnny, Wow!

All I can say is "Keep your chin up and take care of your wife and family".
Everything happens for a reason even if we can't figure out what that reason is.

It doesn't always seem fare or right but the reason is the reason and good things
can/will come from it if you allow it too. Stay optimistic and keep the faith.

No mater how bad a situation gets never allow it to take you down. You're leaving
to Help the wife is a part of life and remember that it is what you make it, Not only for
you but rather for her and any other family members. You must be strong
Hold the faith and lead her to recovery. That my friend is your mission.

I'm really sorry that your wife, you and your family are going through this ordeal.

My family will place you and your family in our daily prayers.
I wish and pray for God's Speed in helping your family to recover.

Thank you for the time we've had together here on the WF.
May your wifes recovery time be short and effective that she regains
    all that is.

    Michael and Family
PS, I'll see you when your return My Friend.

Johnny, so sorry to hear about your wife. Healing that kind of injury takes time. My mom was hit in a crosswalk, fractured her pelvis, broke her ankle and had to have quite a bit done with an ankle. She was in bed for about a month.

When times get tough, the tough pick up and keep going.

I did want to mention that although I did not read the full thread, I recall one lady that had a big family problem and gave up her business. Only later did she realize she could have outsoucrced and still kept some income going, rather than let it die off.

Hope you can think about that and see if it fits. Visit WF once in a while, she will have some downtimes and hopefully you can drop by.

I don't know you, but you have obviously been very active in the Forum, and made a lot of caring friends and contacts along the way.

You have a hard task ahead of you, and I'm sure you will make your family's future as comfortable as possible. You obviously have a great deal of love for your wife, who needs your strength to get through this difficult and painful time.

However, don't forget the one person you must take care of most - yourself.

In stressful times, be kind to yourself, and make sure you don't forget how important your health, both physical and mental, are to your loved ones.

I know it's difficult, but perhaps staying involved in your online work, even at a reduced level, will be a positive influence for you. If it's something you enjoy, it can give you the positive strokes to keep going, one day at a time.

I sincerely wish you, your wife, and your family my best wishes, and hope that all the dark days are now behind you.

If you have no objection, I would like to post your five points on my blog, as I think it succinctly summarises a lot of wisdom.

      Good luck for the future.

      Alan

Sorry to hear about your wife but it is true things happen for a reason. And bad things that happen to us are the true things that go onto define who we are, how resilient we become, how determine we are when faced with adverse situations, and our overall character.

Thanks for the post. If you haven't already, check into disability for your wife; long term/short term to get some income. If you don't like the health care professionals helping you, remember you have a choice. And care for your wife, but allow her to be as independent as possible. She will get through this and find normal again. It may be a new normal however. Take care. Best of luck.

I have never ran across any of your posts here on the forum, but for all the ones that you have written I am so grateful and blessed to have come across this one. Myself and others on here can take so much advice from this post. I wish you and your family the best. I'm not sure if you believe in a higher power, but always remember that everything happens for a reason. We may not know today, tomorrow, or even next year, but in time you will know why. I pray that you remain strong and understanding of this whole incident.

I read your post and you can teach others how family is so important. How to take a negative situation and still think positive. The positive advice you have given to the warrior forum. In fact after reading your post, I copied and pasted it into a word file. Knowing that when I begin to stray away from what im doing, I can look back and see the pep talk that you have given us all and the much needed inspiration that we need from time to time. If you ever come back to the forum, please do look me up.

Positive people attract positive people. Birds of the same feather fly together. If you want to know where your life is headed, look at your five closest friends. Their are a reflection of you. I can tell by your willing to give others and not expect anything in return, the passion you have for your family, and the love you have for IM, I know if I was to see you, I would see a reflection of myself.

Take care my friend. Always know that you have a ton of Warriors here that are hoping for the best. Please come back occasionally to keep us posted.

Maybe you will never read this but if your wife is taking antibiotics for 6 weeks it will give her immune system a knock. The antibiotics kill off the good bacteria in the bowel that stimulate the immune system. She should take a high potency probiotic taken away from the antibiotics.

With my nutritionist's hat on I urge you to see a nutritionist or other health practitioner who can recommend the best diet and nutritional supplements for your wife to heal.

My very best wishes for her speedy recovery.

Ah, Johnny. Life takes us on a rough ride sometimes. Your wisdom and humor will be missed. Drop by once in awhile when you have the spare time. I'm sure your wife is in great hands and will heal before long. TLC always helps.

Rather than goodbye - I'd prefer to say "see ya later".

The points of knowledge you shared are pure gold! You sum up a lot of valuable information/tips in a few paragraphs there. Thank you

So true! I've only recently started to focus more on this, and it pays back plentyfold.

So so so so important! I see to many people just buying and buying, looking for the holy grail of "automated business in a box" never to find it (myself included).

Most of us warriors already know more than enough to build a profitable business from. Action is essential!

This post could be helpful for people who need a "kick" to keep putting in the necessary action:

Absolutely! Tools like autoresponders, a good payment processor, proper workflow etc are key to more time-freedom.

In the same way that people tend to purchase-purchase, and read-read, it is also easy to neglect all the tools and products that we have purchased along the way.

Thank you VERY much for some priceless lessons that you just
shared. I've been on this forum for almost a decade... long before
we migrated to the current platform, and I after all that I've
learned, I don't think that I disagreed with a single one of
    your points.

Family MUST come first and I do hope that your wife recovers
    soon.

I also think that, knowing how long and hard you've worked at
building an online business, you family would probably encourage
you to care out 30 minutes to an hour a day, and not completely
    let go of your dreams.

They do want you happy too, and those 30 minutes can be time
that you spend sitting in waiting rooms, etc.

If you'd like, I can point out ONE thing that you can focus on for
just 30 minutes a day, that, based upon your experience level,
will still allow you to be there 100% for your family, but still have
    money coming in online.

What you have already learned and validated does have tremendous
    worth!

      John,

I'm terribly sorry to hear the unfortunate incident.

Really hate to see you go. Still got a lot to learn from you.

      Family comes first always.

At the same time, please take a look at these possible remedies that may alleviate the complications, help recuperate from the operations faster, enhance the immune system as well as revitalize the nerves in the legs:

      1. Pine Bark Extract - from Masquillier
      2. Grape Seed Extact
      3. Swiss Apple Stem Cell Serum
      4. L-Arginine
      5. Wild Salmon Fish Oil
      6. All the good berry juices

Probably all the above will cost you about $200 or so at your nearest pharmacy for a months supply. GNC would be best - based on FDA top 3.

But do a research first, before you proceed.

Hope this will help. And I wish your wife become healthy again as soon as possible.

Be back to WF in the future and keep in touch in the mean time.

Um, I'm most likely gonna get beat up over this.

I am truly surprised there aren't more voices like mine in this thread.

    But...

    ...I don't get it.

Online marketing is supposed to be THE way to earn money on YOUR terms.

"No matter what you can still succeed online."

You work out of your home, on your own time, and if you can't get it done you can farm it out.

I really don't want to seem insensitive to your plight.

    I really don't.

    But...

...the situation you find yourself in is what this forum and internet marketing is all about.

Can you BEGIN to understand the positive publicity that could be derived from this situation?

And by that I DO NOT mean exploitation. Your success during this time would be an example that validates what is extolled to the world here in this venue.

(I know, I can almost hear the collective gasp).

"While Taking Care Of His Critically Injured Wife Full Time Online Entrepreneur Still Makes $XX,XXX"

The internet is littered with stories of people who faced hardship and succeeded online.

(No, can't name anything specific. But, I'm sure someone here can.)

You have had a monumental task laid out before you. I know that.

I ask you to reconsider abandoning IM.

Many of the replies here say, "Family comes first". I'm not saying your wife shouldn't come first.

IM doesn't mean you gotta abandon family. It is supposed to provide a way to support it through the worst times.

Okay, I'm gonna stop now and brace myself for what may fly in my direction.

I'm truly sorry you find yourselves in this situation. Can't even imagine how I would do.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has responded. This community never fails to amaze me.

To answer a question that was broached here and has been asked in emails as well, we do have some income coming in. My wife has long term disability payments that started this month and will continue throughout her recovery.

Our only issue with money is that the day after we got the first payment this month was when she found out she would be having to deal with the hospital stay we are currently going through.

Because of this hospital stay we haven't paid our rent/utilities for the month so we may have to deal with getting our lights and water turned back on once we go home. I have had to let my Aweber account and a few of my domains go this month because I didn't have the money to pay for them.

However, after we get over this initial hurdle we have right now we should be ok. My parents just yesterday drove from Mississippi to pick up our girls so they could take them to say until we get home from the hospital so we have everything covered other than figuring out how to pay the monthly bills for this month.

I will drop in every once in a while and make a post or two, but for now my efforts of trying to make money online will be on hold.

Again, a huge thank you to everyone.

A friend of mine's wife had the same type of injury -- run over by a bus while cycling-- and it was very hard, but she fought back with the love and support of her husband and has returned to work when all thought she would die. I wish you the strength and support for both of you to fight back to a good life.

God bless you in this tough time.

      Hey Johnny,

Every knockback is the springboard to your next comeback.

Be sure to engineer the situation into one that makes you stronger.

I reckon that once 'life' realises that you've done enough training and have become pretty tough, it slows down the flow of new challenges. I've been wrong before though.

Best wishes to you and yours.

You know buddy? I read your piece I was swimming in tears. My wife was surprised seeing me cried in front of my computer yet again. She actually thought it was those good old days when I had to cry because I couldn't get things done. Then, some of my worst nightmare were many of those IM hard to crack nuts, stuff like opening files , Uploading to my host, Html, Editing and other techie stuffs in IM.

I literally shared your story with my wife and she felt really sorry for your wife too. My entire household sympathize with you.

You actually spot on with your advise toward encouraging warriors to learn how to do things themselves. You know what guys? IM is becoming a survival series where only those who survive are those who have equipped themselves with the necessary technical skills. Simple reason being that the outsourcing staff are increasingly becoming darer due to popular demand.

Dear Chubbsky, we will miss you dearly and I wish you well in life. Don't forget, those stuff you already had in your arsenal cannot be taken away from you. Those authority sites, blogs etc would still bring in cash many years to come, no doubt.

    All the best.

OK John...so why haven't you done this with your biz? LOL Good luck.

    4) Automation is your friend. I see posts day after day by people asking questions about things that they are doing manually that should be fully automated. Payment processing, product delivery, list management, etc. can all be automated to the point that you can have a money making and list building site that requires virtually no work from you once it is set up.

    Hey Johnny.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife and I hope she makes a speedy recovery.

Thanks for your honesty and openness and she's lucky to have someone like you to help take care of her during these times.

I also appreciate you taking your time to jot down the things you've observed and learned in your IM.

Most of all, I think I appreciate your candid honesty, and human touch that's vital. Business should include a personality and contact with people, as you point out, and a good reminder for us all.

I am sorry to hear that. I hope your wife recovers soon and then you might be able to make it back to this forum

I just checked that you have over 2000 posts. We would definitely like to see you back soon!

This is an excellent post. I especially liked #2 and it's something I'm working on. I have an "introvert" personality by default but I am trying to GET OUT THERE MORE. It's so true though - success often depends on who you know. In particular, your level of success.

I'm sorry to hear about what happen to your wife, I will pray for her speedy recovery and for the good health of you both. Your words of wisdom really motivate and inspires me to work even more and at the same time, value the people who care so much about us. You sacrificed one part of your life to spend more time with your other part, and with that, Hats off to you and I felt the happiness and inspiration in me that I will have to take good care of the people around me.
Your number 3 words of wisdom really struck me, and I will have to agree on you with that stop that reading and start doing. Reading those helpful books and articles will really contribute a lot to your learning and understanding to the IM world but with that learning and information, you must put it in action and start applying what you have learned from books and from other people.
We should start putting what we have learn into action since without applying what we have learn, it is useless to store all those knowledge into your brain and remain in there.
Thanks for sharing your time and friendship with us and you take good care always.
