Issue with my sites?

Hello

I am having some issues with getting my sites ranked and wondered if I could get some advice.

For each selected keyword I have built a post on my blog, all on page SEO has been done. I have pinged them and the posts are indexed into Google almost instantly, however they never seem to actually rank.

I have not done any link building, I wonder if this is the reason why? Even though id expect them to rank somewhere without links being built?

Could it be an issue that the 3 sites are all on the same host (even though I use add-on domains)

The sites themselves are about 3-4 months old, they did all have 1 page on them although more content has been built this month.

Any feed back would be great

I think you should build more content for your sites. Content is king in optimizing your site.
You should try to upload your articles in article directories.(with high PR)
you must get edu backlinks & gov because they are the strongest.

Once you have done on page SEO, you should start off page SEO.

Stop - and ask yourself these questions:

I've put up a one page site with onsite seo and one post - how many other pages/sites are there with that same keyword on? Why should my site rank suddenly out rank them just because it's there?

I'm not trying to be facetious, but it never ceases to amaze me how many people think that if you put up a site/page/post containing your keyword that it will magically "rank". Why should it? There are probably, literally, hundreds (if not thousands) of sites/pages/posts containing the same keyword. You can't all be on the top pages of Google. Yours has to stand out somehow.

The question to ask yourself is "how am I going to make my site/page/post stand out and be worthy of a good rank in Google?"

Vlad above has a good list, although I personally would question the value of most .edu links - most I've seen are simply spam-link farms and I would think are likely to do your site more harm than good.

Thank you both for you replies.

I do understand the site needs more content, which is not a problem to write.

I would have just personally expected it to be at least in the first 100 pages, but I do understand where you are coming from and will plug away at adding more quality content

How are you checking your rank? I use the Monitor For Google from Web ranking and SEO software, website promotion, search engine optimization tools - CleverStat.com which seems to be reliable.

At the moment I have been using Traffic Travis and manually searching through the search results (although I expect data centres will affect this)

Ill focus on building more content for now.
