Shall I sell it and move on, or work it?

Hi All,
Some advice here much appreciated as I am at a cross roads. In 2008 I became more serious about learning to create an income online, highly motivated after a year of successful chemo that nevertheless left me unable to return to a physically active career

I made an enthusiastic start on my idea of a web business and built a monetized Clickbank product review site, sparked by my own frustrations at trying to find a good wealth creation product and from bumping into bad ones and crooked ones.
So I made a large review site with over 50 wealth plans, 10 reviews each from article sites, and with cross checks with the Better Business Bureau and RipOff Review to see if these wealth makers had any black marks against them (and plenty do). The site would make money after a visitor read the reviews, decided on buying a product, and I would earn CB commissions and google ad fees

So, I registered the url of wealthmatrixreview.com and then promptly did what newbies seem to and that’s get distracted with the next get rich quick scheme, did nothing solid with it until I come to now, 3 years later, needing to make a few decisions.

The site is complete and working, and a lot of work went into building it. My dilemma and question is this; do you think I should try to make a go of it now that I’ve got a bit more experience? Or do I list it on Flippa tomorrow so that a) one of the many newer sites that have popped up all over using cheap variations on ‘wealth matrix’ name can take over the url for their own uses and b) perhaps someone would like to take over and operate the site.

I appreciate that execution of the site leaves plenty to be desired but I still think there’s a place and a need on the internet for a site that reviews all the wealth making products in a clear and simple format, and also identifies the law breaking and fraudulant ones for newbies and experienced alike, and that a site called ‘Wealth Matrix Review’, has both a good name and real place, but ...

Question; is the potential good enough to keep it and work it, or do I sell it and move on?
The url is Home, ( ie wealth matrix review.com) thanks for looking and for any opinions. pm's welcome too.

Hi, I believe your concept is good and has potential. It looks as though it would take a lot of research to start and maintain this. This seems to me to be an ongoing project inasmuch as there are hundreds if not thousands of new products coming into the market that need to be reviewed.

Why not turn it into something like an "Angies List" where your members can actually give you their feedback on these product sellers as to how they back up their product, how good is support, does the product do what it says.

Then all you have to do is find a way to link to the good products with your affiliate ID if that is possible. Or, you could charge a small membership fee like "Angies List". I realize that there are forums that might do this, but, you could take it a step further by offering some kind of perks to being a member in addition to the hands on experience comments about the products that everyone is looking to consider buying.

Now your content will be generated by hundreds of people on the subject that you have chosen. This should help your rankings emensely since most of the content will be original. Then you could consider selling it for a bundle. Just a thought.

I'd love to locate software that allows visitors to make input but I have no idea where to track them down so see what would suit. This has been a frustration for sometime and affects several sites I would like to expand. Where should I look to locate software that allows users to post their comments? I don't want a blog, depending if they can be altered to create a nice looking site, I don't know what the options would be, a forum layout might be close but its still not right ...where can I find out about this? thanks, this is a big question for me and a great frustration trying to solve, thanks BR

Programming is not my strength I'd actually ask that in one of the programming related sub-forums, as some of the more technically oriented Warriors there may be able to at least point you in the right direction.

            Hi Again,

Sorry it took a while to get back. I realize that you do not want a blog and I don't know why not. However, you could integrate a blog into your website using a add on or a sub-domain and link the "View Comments" and "Make Comments" through your membership login. There are a lot of software products that will help you set up a membership through a blog.

Also, if you are totally against the blog, there are also a lot of membership scripts available to set up a general membership and adding a comments page is like setting up a feedback page and directing the comments to pages on your site in the categories that you allocate for comments.

Do a search for membership scripts. You will probably find one that suits your needs. The other altenative is to have a programmer do this for you. You should be able to find one that will work with you reasonably and if they are on the ball, they will have a script to start with anyway or you can give them a script you find and have them modify it to suit your needs.

There is almost nothing that cannot be done if you search enough for the resources you need and they are all available on the internet. Thanks for listening.

Your site is a good idea but I agree it takes a tremendous amount of work to research and update as things change but if you have the time and started promoting it you might get some good results.

You do a pretty good job here of summing up the site's key strength - the disconnect I see is that it isn't reflected on the homepage. You leave that to a single tab at the top with nothing to draw attention to it.

How much time would it take you to do a quick overhaul on the site's homepage, as the way you describe it, the core is solid. It needs a facelift though as its unfocused looking and bland.

A related one is what do you figure it would cost for you to outsource that task if you prefer not to do that yourself.

Were it mine, and if I wanted to sell it, I would decide if the core has value, and if you believe it does, then redesign (or outsource) it so that its displaying that value to the buyer.

Those are my thoughts from taking a look at it. I have no familiarity with your niche, this is just the same impression I'd have if I landed it on it with say Stumble Upon... where upon I'd hit Stumble again (this is not to take anything away from it, just to stress how its public face isn't saying much of anything about whatever value is there.. and first impressions on a site count, which you're no doubt aware of).
