Why Did You CHOOSE IM?

Hey there warriors,

Someone asked me WHY Internet Marketing.

Having heard the same questions as everyone else,

'why don't you get a real job' (or in my case, 2nd job)
'so, you sell stuff on ebay then'
or my favorite,
'oh, so you're a 'spammer?'

I thought about the best answer, (non smart-ass that is) that I could come up with.

Here's mine:

I've have had my own businesses, bought and sold, built and sold, and I work a regular job too. I sold the last business and came here a year ago to learn about this industry and the business models that I can choose from within it.

I'm completely fascinated by the 'flexibility' that the industry offers. The ability to create as many models as I want and automate them all never ceases to amaze me, and so I keep building new models. Knowing that one will be 'in cycle' when one or more of the other ones aren't and therefore provide more 'sustenance' to the operation as a whole.

It's easier (and a LOT cheaper) to create a web based 'operation' with multiple models than it is to do with brick and mortar. This is the best passive income system I have ever seen.

Your turn:

-Marcus

Because I dont have a boss, and can work in shorts!! lol!

    I had this only tonight,

I was having a few beers with friends whom are tradesmen and because I work from home they think I am a bum, seriously!!!! hahhaha

I make more in a week than they make in a month but I always keep low profile as I hate bragging. But because I am in the offline niche I actually have tradesmen like them paying me to do sites and seo etc...

I dont need to explain to anyone what I do, it aint anyones business! But if someone asks, I say I run a business and nothing more!

    I love my job!

If I had a day job, IM would be the hell out of it. But since I'm a student, I just want to make enough to pay for rez/tuition for as long as I want to be in school (PhD? lol...). Oh yeah, that and pay off my future house in cash.

I'm psychologically unemployable. Being in business for myself
is the only logical solution. I had a cabinet-making business but
it hurt to do the work so I chose to get a back-ache in from
sitting in cushy chairs instead of lifting heavy things.

      I... completely agree.

    Marcus,

GOOD TOPIC! I have been dealing with hearing MANY of the same things you mention in your post for the past DECADE PLUS as an IMer.

As an aside to my friends here on the board ... I didn't choose IM, it ended up choosing me! You see ... back in the early days (around the time that Mr. Says started the original Warriors :-) ) I was looking for ways to help build my network marketing business online.

Back in those days ... that was NOT really being done. So I just learned to use the internet as a TOOL to help my business. BUT over the years, I began to have other internet income streams flow into my life.

SO for 10+ years I have been marketing online ... quietly ... but profitably.

NOW ... the benefits? I think we know them.

    (1) NO BOSS TO ANSWER TO!

    (2) My schedule with work, family and life is MINE alone.

    (3) I have unlimited potential

    (4) I get to do / learn something new every day.

    (5) I'm able to travel a LOT with my family (we even had to home school the kids due to our travel schedule)

Now what do I tell people I do? Well ... I have a few lines (some of them not suitable for this forum :-) ) but I have come up with an "elevator speech" that tells people what I do.

Short Answer: I run an internet marketing research company.

Which is true because I'm ALWAYS researching for ways to use the internet to market new products and make money :-)

UNFORTUNATELY we need to give some kind of "corporate" answer to the rest of the NON entrepreneurial world. Most folks don't or WON'T understand what we do ... and if we try to tell them ... their eyes glaze over :-)

SO ... coming up with that "real world" description gives them something that they understand ... and spoken in their language!

NO MATTER WHAT WE CALL IT ... AIN'T IM FUN? :-)

    I say,

"Because I dont live in a cave where the only money to be made is from the hours of 9-5, and via a paycheck sent to you every two weeks by a large company. Oh yeah, I also work on the internet so I have more free time than you, take more vacations than you, and, well, I guess Im just happier than you."

    Haha..

I chose IM because my main goal is to help others become successful (success coach) and I think IM will be the fastest way to reach out to people!

I dropped out of college to start my business... then I got started in real estate w/ no money and made 145k in 6 months. I even learned how to make $100-$200/hr playing online poker... People thought I was crazy for dropping out of college to start my business, doubted my success in real estate, thought I was crazy for quitting poker to go all in with IM...

I just believe that anything extraordinary seems crazy in people's eyes... And if crazy means being successful, I want to be craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazy!

I didn't choose IM. It jumped out of a van with two big guys and clubbed my kneecaps, then dragged me off screaming into the night.

P.S. I'm SOOOOOO glad it did though.

For all the reasons given above and more, it's just plain common sense - a no-brainer! It is tough, however, and takes a lot of work, however. I am just in the early stages myself.

Looking to do MY own thing, MY way, on MY time.

No need to ask for time off. Go on vacation, leave town
whenever I and the rest of my family want to.

The excitement and high from creating something worthwhile
that makes a difference for others.

You have right here in front of you a global marketplace...

      A global audience...

THAT is exciting. To be able to
reach out across international boundaries with just
      one or two clicks away.

Yet be able to target a specific group of people
sharing the same interests. Building bridges and
      relationships.

      I find that fascinating.

      All the best,

      Kevin
