Fiverr - Sellers Deleting Their Gigs Before Completing Your Order and NOT Telling You

Maybe I'm just unlucky, but this has happened to me twice in the last few days. I know it is only $5, but what slightly annoys me is the sellers' failure to just be honest and say they are deleting their gigs, they won't be completing the order, and cancelling it on their end. The gigs in question were both ones that take up to 7 days to complete, so I have had to wait a week(the first few days thinking I would receive my orders before the deadline) until I can actually cancel them and get a refund.

It's not about the money, it's about the wasted time and the lack of common courtesy offered. I have offered services myself before(not on Fiverr) and if a task I was completing was going to be late, I'd immediately let the person hiring me know. To just not communicate with your customers at all and delete your service(s) is very unprofessional, in my opinion. I don't usually complain or have a mini rant like this, but I had to get it off my chest :p Everyone deserves respect and common courtesy

Don't worry, karma will get back to them, they won't get far with this mindset.

Yep. I'm a big believer in the law of attraction

Thats the way things should be On Fiverr, the seller has to initiate the cancellation before the deadline arrives, then the buyer can agree to it. The buyer can only cancel after the deadline has passed.

    • Just so I understand, Liam, why do you think the sellers deleted their gigs? Is it because they don't appear on Fiverr any more?

Both the sellers in question have deleted ALL of their gigs. They still have profiles on there, but no gigs attached to them. I've noticed their feedback scores dropping too....probably as a result of the deadlines running out and buyers cancelling in the last few days.

Fiverr is still in its infancy and as a result you can't always believe what you see. You especially can't believe the "This gig is no longer available" message -- it's pretty much Fiverr's default response to everything, including database lookup errors.

If a seller suspends his gigs, they will no longer appear. Sellers will do this when they're overwhelmed with orders or perhaps with their personal life. It would be helpful if the sellers would update their profile to make a note of this but few do (or perhaps don't realize they can).

A gig also disappears (albeit only for a couple of days) when it's been edited to the point that the mods have to approve it all over again. It can also go poof if the seller adds a video.

Now it is possible in your case that the sellers have completely deleted their gigs but in nearly 500 gig purchases I have never had that happen to me.

That's a very good point, I hadn't really considered it I think in these cases though, at least one of them has deleted all their gigs permanently because I wrote to them 3 times to ask them what was going on and they didn't respond. Their profile says that they have been active on the site though.

It would be nice if people behaved in a professional manner and stayed in contact, wouldn't it?

I think anonymity encourages flakiness, though. It's not like you could ever track them down. Plus they could be selling under several other Fiverr IDs even as we speak.

All the more reason to hang onto a Fiverr gem when you find one, at least until s/he gets burned out too and suspends all their gigs. :-) There are some old pros who as far as I know have never taken a break and will do whatever it takes to complete a gig. They are in it to win it.

If the ost time on a project is worth a great deal more than $5 --it may make sense to order the job at least twice from two different vendors.

Or you could just order it from me.

Interesting... I didn't know that they could do that. Have bought quite a bit through there and not had that happen yet personally, but I guess I've just been lucky so far...

The same thing has happend to me before. I was waiting ages for some articles as the seller said he'd need a few days. He deleted his gig and left me hanging. Most folks on Fiverr are ok though in my experience.

Yeah, absolutely - 99% of the sellers I have dealt with on there have been fantastic and I am a regular customer of a few who do a great job and are a pleasure to deal with

Have you guys REALLY located quality work through fiverr? I personally wouldn't touch that site with a ten foot pole...My experience has always rang true in that quality and productivity comes at a price. I am not asking or making a statement to be condescending, I am just surprised if people have actually gotten good results on this site...?

I have offered a few services on fiverr myself and sadly people seem to feel the need to message me before they order for that very reason, make sure I am "there"

I've probably purchased a minimum of 50 gigs on fiverr and this has never happened to me. When you make an order on the instructions are you asking for so much that it would be insane to do the job for $5 ??

Either way im not justifying for the deletion of the gig bc it is very unprofessional but if you think about it what can you really expect for $5?

Out of about 50 i've bought, about 10 were crap, about 30 were good and i was happy with the results and about 10 were so awesome that i couldn't fathom the thought of someone doing such a job for a measly $5..

In the end im extremely happy with fiverr.

    Good luck bro
