Youtube Unbeatable?

I anxious to start a new niche site and found one that might be a good candidate. The problem is that there's 4 Youtube videos at the top 4 positions, 3 of them PR5. Other sites on page one include a wordpress.com blog and an unpopular forum. I checked the backlinks of the sites on first page and no page has more than 100 backlinks and the backlinks to the youtube videos are very poor (PR n/a). The main reason I want to pursue this keyword, though, is because it gets 9900 exact searches/month and the exact match domain is available, .com, .net, .org, etc.

So is Youtube too big a giant to defeat? Should I just let this one go?

  • Are you kidding? You can slaughter the PR5 sites on You Tube and SERPs.

    - outrageous or funny videos. Gotta be good.
    - backlink the hell out the video from relevant places
    - ask for comments
    - video sitemap
    - post the video everywhere

Google usually ranks the top two visited videos in SERPs.

If you don't go for it, send me the keyword and I'll do it.
  • Anyone have some experience when trying to rank against Youtube? Also the niche I'm going for is a "how to" niche, which tend to always have Youtube on the first page.

    • Hi,

I think you should go for it, don't be deterd by the youtube videos. You'll be providing lots more content on your site than just a video, won't you?
