CB order form impression conversion

Looking over the analytics of my CB account, I noticed that some products that I am promoting have more interest than others. It seems that some of these have many order form impressions.

So as an example....say 800 hops to 345 order form impressions. But the issue is that some of these have very few follow through or "sales".

I'm curious and fascinated by this, -- as an affiliate, are there things that you can do to better influence the people who get that far into making purchasing a product?

As a vendor, as there ways to split test this for better results, and do vendors ever take the time to do this?

What do people freak out by when they get so close? the price of the product? some questions about it that didn't get addressed?

I hope that this starts a bit of a discussion, because I think this is an important and missing link...

Have anything to contribute?

Some products require you to go to the order page to check the price, so it's not a surprise to me actually.

Also, others are turned off by Clickbank.

That's a very good point! I personally think it's a bad idea to not list the price on your sales letter. Everything should be spelled out right there or else it looks fishy.

And you are also right that some people may have had a bad experience with Clickbank in the past or don't trust them on some level.

Some vendors set up their funnel like this so that they can test copy and pricing separately.

As an affiliate, there are ways (gray and white) to link direct to the order form. You could put together your own LP which includes the price but links direct to order form. Your order form abandonment will probably go down... but how that'll affect conversions remains to be seen.

I usually don't promote products that I find to be shady. I need to check what I promote and I make sure that what I personally sell is worth the money.

Give them as much information as possible in your pages so that when they go through to the sales page there are no 'surprises' (the price is a good case in point). People are scaring easier these days, so you want to make it as simple as possible.

Often people can also freak a little when the price is converted from USD to their currency as they realize how much they are actually about to spend.

With that amount of traffic coming in and not much in sales. The best thing you can do is to get those visitors emails and hit them with offers through your funnel.

This can give you the chance to personally ask them why they didn't buy as well.

But if this is a offer that has been historically known to convert well, the problem might be you not hitting their "pain points" enough to get them to pull out their credit cards today.

Some vendors do not have a customized order form, which, all else being equal, should convert better.

Excellent information here! thanks so much to all for your participation.

brunom - don't worry. I believe very much in researching a product first, and when you actually take the time to buy something, it's naturally easier to talk about it.

John Galt - I am aware that it can be possible to link directly to the order form and some vendors encourage this, but I don't see this as being any better, because I believe that it's important to take someone on a journey of information first. I honestly think that would shoot me in the foot, but who knows -- I can't knock it until I try it

Rach72 - definitely agree with you. If I do a review for instance, I really enjoy making it as complete as possible and I think my visitors really appreciate that as well. Plus, it's just professional.

Forcefactor - I agree, an opt-in is a great way to educate and gain trust and make potentially lost sales.

However, with the one product that I am looking at that I'm getting so many hops with this isn't really a "list building/email marketing" type of interest. So I suppose that it just depends on the market/niche.

Oh I have one more question to ask of all of you or anyone who cares to chime in.

Sometimes I'll sit down and do little calculations to determine the potential of a website based off of hops, conversions, how much traffic I would need etc, but we all know that the IM world isn't exactly predictable, and one day it's richest and the next a big fat 0, haha.

Just wondering, doesn't anyone else ever do this? I find it fun, but sometimes I think that it's damaging to my mind, you know setting up expectations and all of that, but maybe it's smart too?

Thanks again -- really appreciate the input here!
