Facebook pages questions

Do you have multiple facebook accounts? Or do you create all your facebook pages from your normal facebook account, and likewise pay for any ads you might run on this account?

Also, is it acceptable to have a page with a name that is trademarked? e.g. page name of Google is awesome, or 4Loko is crazy or something like that.

What exactly does this mean...
'Pages with names consisting solely of generic or descriptive terms will have their administrative rights removed. '

Any other tips for making pages?

In return for your help, a tip for you that I learned is to create the page as a product page, with the category of website, to prevent Facebook taking ownership of your page if it hits 10k fans.

1 account with all my pages on that account. It's against FB TOS to have multiple accounts. You can run ads for all the pages from the same account.

I wouldn't recommend using trademarked names on your page.

"Google is awesome" not only has a trademarked name in it, but it's also a generic/descriptive term, so is "4Loko is crazy". They'd delete them on you. Other generic terms would be something like "baseball" or "cats".

Playing cat and mouse with Facebook's TOS is like playing with fire. You'll more than likely end up wasting time (and money if you pay for ads) and get your pages deleted. Also, your tip at the end of your post doesn't guarantee that FB won't take or delete your page.

It's their site, so you have to play by their rules. I know there are plenty of people that don't, but you're better off staying within the TOS and building pages that you can have for the long haul. It would suck to get thousands of fans on a page only to have it deleted, wouldn't it?

OK. I disagree. I have 2 accounts, and this is why. One of my accounts is for family only. I do not want the rest of my family knowing about my online business. I also don't want people befriending my family members and then spamming them. Not good. I have never had any problems with my second account. I just use a pen name and a different email address.

    Registration and Account Security

Facebook users provide their real names and information, and we need your help to keep it that way. Here are some commitments you make to us relating to registering and maintaining the security of your account:
You will not create more than one personal profile.
You will not use your personal profile for your own commercial gain (such as selling your status update to an advertiser).
If you select a username for your account we reserve the right to remove or reclaim it if we believe appropriate (such as when a trademark owner complains about a username that does not closely relate to a user's actual name).

    Interesting, thanks

What names are acceptable then? I have seen videos where people suggest names like 'Playing with cats' or 'Metal detecting' as page names - are these okay?

    Also, going by

It would seem that is okay to create multiple if they aren't for personal use? Or am I interpreting that incorrectly?

Don't listen to those people in those videos. They're wrong. Those pages names are generic page names, and against the TOS.

Again, creating more than one personal account is against their TOS. I suggest you re-read their TOS.

FB TOS states that you can only have one account. You can however create as many pages in that account as you'd like.

No. Facebook can see if you are trying to target keywords. Be original.

It means just what it says. If the page is being used to target generic descriptive terms you will lose the page. Try to have some personality and helpful information on the page.

I would keep things simple - 1 Facebook account and 100s of pages If you are going to do things ethically.

Some people get banned by not following the rules.

So does anyone have some examples of acceptable page names that aren't just names of famous people or tv/shows/products etc?
