Facebook Marketing Success Stories

Hi All!

Just a question I want to throw out there. Who of you have actualy had success marketing on facebook? And I do not mean selling "how to market on facebook" products, I mean who has had real success in terms of marketing their online / offline businesses on facebook?

My experience so far is that it nowhere close gives you a ROI for the time and effort you spend on there. You can spend HOURS socialising and networking on there and not make a single sale. (have tested in quite a few popular markets) Great for awareness and brand building but actual sales?

Does anyone have had any great success online or offline with facebook?. Building groups, facebook pages, adding friends etc or is everyone facebooking because everyone says that is where you have to be?

    I think, I am the guy ahead of all (atleast amongst all WF members) in case of Facebook marketing. I have multiple Facebook accounts with about 8000 Facebook friends. I am making around $1600/month from Facebook.

    It can work but it has to been done well. The golden rule of Facebook is that people are there for enjoyment... they don't want to be hassled so anything you market needs to be well blanketed as something enjoyable/social/newsworthy.

    Supersonic's story and the additional material is worth a read (no sneaky gateways)

    I'm still fumbling to find right persona for facebook, I have seen a couple of paid media tutorial packages suggesting you start with Facebook PPC, though it calls for a lighter touch than adwords.

    Thanks for the replies guys. It is just from my and my client's experience that we have had not a lot of success esp re offline businesses in terms of the ROI.

    Everyone and his friend "have to be" on facebook it seems. But for the effort it does not seem worthwhile to me. I get asked by my clients and they get bombarded with "social media marketing" for their offline biz and most of the time I advise them that it realy is not worth the ROI for the time and energy spent to market a small biz (especialy offline biz) as I have seen many with friends lists of 1000+ not make a single sale from there. They put their heart and soul into FB with groups and pages and friends etc, but get very little in return.

    So I was just wondering ito offline biz especialy if people have had any luck.
