Your opinion about links on websites.

Say somebody wants you to put his website link in your website in order to get some traffic.
You don't believe his website has got a product that could potentially be of interest (only to a handful of people), plus it reflects very marginally the content of your website.

Would you still put it up to do him a favour? Is there anything to be gained for your website?

Depends on who the person is, what his website is and what my website is From what you say, it sounds like there are no benefits for your own website by doing so, unless his site is in a similar niche to yours, which could possibly be beneficial in terms of SEO(external contextual links).

See if has another site that he will link back to yours.

In general I wouldn't just give someone a link on my site unless I really thought it would be beneficial to my readers, or I was getting something in return.

I don't link to anything doesn't go along with what my customers are looking for.

What do you get out of having a link to his site? Is he sending you one back?
