What do you think? How would this perform?

I recently hired an in-house, full-time lawyer (extremely qualified) who specializes in Internet Law and Business Law. She will not have too much work to do around the office, but is a great asset to our company as we continued to grow.

To keep her occupied, and at least help cover her rather large salary, I was thinking of running a WSO and a Service listing offering discount legal services such as contract writing, contract reviews, dispute management, dispute resolution, reputation management, website terms of service and disclaimers, phone consultations, letter writing, etc. for very, very discounted rates compared to what the average lawyer/attorney would cost. She can also do filings with the government, paperwork, inquiries, etc.

I was also thinking of putting together pre-paid protection packages each month to allow a certain number of services to be available to the customer as needed, with direct access to her.

Would something like this be successful here on the forum? Yes or No, and why? Thanks everyone!

It's very easy to find out.

Just throw together a quick package and list it as WSO.

    Cost:
    $40 for WSO
$19 for WSO+ (just in case it does fly...)
about 5 hours of her time to package things: let's say $48 times 5 = $240
    -------------------------------------------------------------
    = $299 plus your time, lets say another 5 hours @ $225 =$1,125
    -------------------------------------------------------------

comes to $1,424 if my math is somewhat correct.

After that you will know exactly whether it flies or not. And if it does not fly immediately you will have more data to tweak and make it fly.

    Other options to consider:
Build WP plugins with all the legal stuff. There are some plugins around that offer it. Buy them up and see what they are missing and then build the uber legal plugin. That would sell for sure.

    Them warriors love plugins...

Chris - And here I thought you just made great plug-ins! I think this is a neat idea. I could have used this service just a couple of weeks ago when I needed to come up with a contract to use with a new client. Sure, there are templates but as soon as you start to fill one of those out it just leads to more questions. I would have easily paid someone to put one together for me but finding a local attorney that specializes in internet businesses and doesn't want to charge me a fortune isn't always that easy.

When I worked for a corporation, we had a legal department I could rely on any time I needed assistance with anything and you never realize just how convenient and helpful that is until you're on your own and scrambling to find good legal services. I'd certainly consider using such a service in the future.

I suppose there are other considerations such as what she can and can't do based on her qualifications and the state (country?) in which she's licensed but that's all the detailed implementation stuff you'd have to figure out. On its face, I think it's a neat concept.

As long as I hear you say that behind all of the complications and licensing restrictions, it is a great idea, that gives me hope that I may be able to come up with a way to do this. Thanks again!
