Google Webmaster Tools Verification Tips

Hey there,

Due to a recent downfall of some of my WordPress pages, I figured I'd better start using the Google Webmaster Tools. The problem is that I am having difficulties in getting my site verified.

What is the best way to get site verification?

I have a Yoast Plugin and have tried to add the code in the "Webmaster Tools area, but that has failed as well.

Do any of you have any good ideas? Thank You

    Hey,

I finally managed to get the site verified, but there is not information on the WebMaster Tools. Absolutely none. Is this something that takes a little time once you get it set up?

    Thank You

The data that I'm seeing on my Webmaster Tools is three days behind (currently only showing up to July 16th).

I don't know if it helps or not, but I always submit my sitemaps when I set up a domain in GWT.

See, that's how far behind I am, I don't even know how to set up a site map, let alone add it to gwt. Any information on this would be appreciated. I know it helps fpr SEO, but I have been concentrating on quality content more than anything else and trying to stick with it until I see some results, at least more results as I have been getting a few conversions.

        Thanks again Warriors

To set up a sitemap for a WordPress site, this is what I do:

          1. Log into the WordPress admin screen
          2. Select "Plugins"
          3. Click on the "Add New" button
          4. Search for "XML Sitemap & Google News Sitemap"
          5. Click on "Install", then "Activate"
          6. This will automatically create a sitemap.xml file for your WordPress blog
          7. Log into Google Webmaster Tools
          8. From the dashboard, click on your site name
          9. Click on "Site configuration"
          10. Click on "Sitemaps"
          11. Click on the "Submit a Sitemap" button
          12. Enter in "sitemap.xml" (without the quotes) and press the "Submit sitemap" button

That's it. Google should now know about your sitemap, and it will be updated every time you add a new post or page. It still may take Google a while to crawl your site and get the new page indexed, but that's how you do it.

Just add the code to the footer of your theme.

I think there is an option to upload a file to the HTML root, have you tried that?

Kev, I tried a few things that seemed user freindly to me. I think I got it figured out now. I was putting the html code into the webmaster tools instead of the meta tags. It seems to be working now. I do not have any info yet at the webmaster tools, but that may take a while I thing.

Thank You for your help now and on my other endless questions. I can't wait until I can offer some help to people struggling to make it online.
