I'm Finally Back In The Game

Hi all,

It's been a really long, long, long while since I posted here...or since I even had anything to do with online marketing.

Having begun my online marketing ventures somewhere in 2008, I'm sad to say that up till now, I've got NOTHING to show for it. My biggest paycheck from good ole Clickbank was something like 300USD or so...and at least a good half of it was from my own purchases..you know...the next big thing syndrome...

With lots of money(by my standard) spent on web design, online services, Adwords etc etc, and NOTHING to show for it, I decided to call it quits in 2010 and froze everything related to IM.

From 2010 till date, I messed around with forex/futures and penny stocks trading. I gotta confess that while serious money can be made trading, I'm treading on thin ice everyday...yes, it's that risky. In fact, the very reason I'm back in the IM game is because I made a mess of things and blew up my 5K trading account. Game Over! Woots!

Right now, I'm a full-time Law student with the University of London and by some mysterious force, I'm being steered into the direction of IM again.

Somehow, I still believe that good and serious money can be made online, be it online lead generation, selling own infoproducts, affiliate marketing etc. I still have the hunch that I CAN and WILL eventually succeed making a full time living online.

What's my definition of a full-time living? Well, given that I'm here in Singapore, anywhere from 3k-5k USD PROFITS will fall into my definition of a full-time living income.

So...long story short...I'm BACK! Wee!

Right now, here's the plan:

I've just joined an online lead generation network based in UK and from what I've researched so far, the folks over there are making in excess of 35K per month PROFIT and there are many people in the network making my target income.

Also, I somehow managed to get a copy of George Brown's GS2. I didnt get the first one but I've heard good things about it so I might as well put it to good use and follow through.

So for a start, here's what I plan to do:

1) Sign up for the Google Adwords Certification Program to learn Adwords inside and out. The reason is because previously, I've been messing around with Adwords...the wrong way, resulting in monstrous credit card bills. I simply do not know how to do keyword research, construct good ads, split test etc etc. so i guess I'm gonna start right from scratch

2) Take time to digest and understand GS2 and implement it and make darn sure I follow through this time round instead of giving up halfway

3) Understand how the online lead generation network works and how I can get my feet wet. I secretly suspect my Google Adwords Certification Program will help me tremendously here.

4) Make real money this time!

    I've gotta give you props for starting back up in IM while doing law school. You also seem to understand what you need to do to succeed, just remember that it's going to take a lot of work and you will fail quite a bit. It's all part of the game and the people who win are those who persevere!

    I'm recently back in the game myself. I liked your post, and I like your enthusiasum. I think you'll do well

    One thing I will say, is be careful with Adwords. If you're diving into it, without having much experience or knowledge on the subject, you can drain your funds very quickly. (Been there, done that!)

      Yep, Adwords is like a black hole. It can and will suck me in...suck me dry too...IF I do not know what I'm doing..which is why I am gonna go for the Google Adwords Certification Program to at least get some good basic knowledge. I feel that there's no point in learning all the tricks and tips to PPC if I havent even got the basic knowledge. That was what I've been doing in 2008-2010..causing a hole in my pocket.

        i also suggest you check out the CPA section of the forum, as there is alot of discussion on the topic of adwords and PPC, along with various other paid marketing methods. Some of the guys over there are absolute genius's. There's alot of good info to take in.

          I sure will dude! Thanks for the tip. However, I'll do things one step at a time this time round. Previously I used to "jump the gun" on almost every online venture I undertook. This only led to me not accomplishing anything at all.

    As long as you keep your mistakes from your previous venture in mind, I'm sure you will do well. Your plan is solid...as long as you stick to it. The only advice I would give is not to spenn too much time learning and studying. That will do excellent for law school (which you better keep focusing on, I want ALL Warriors to be college graduates dammit!), but in IM a lot of the learning you will have to do through practice.

    Just market within your means in the beginning. The mistake that so many make is that they budget like they are already making $20k a month when they have no idea how to make $20 a month. Be smart with your finances, and realize that you will in fact have to start small and build your way up.

    Just a quick question though:

    1) Is GS2 worth it and should I give it a go to try crank out a few hundred a month from the site? I've currently got a niche market in mind, it's something I'm personally
    interested in and there's a CB product too. Problem is, stats of the product are low, though keywords (based on Google KE tool) are showing good searches but low competition.

    2) To really master Adwords and PPC, is there any other alternate solution besides the Google Adwords Certification PRogram? I mean really learn from scratch...

    The key in internet marketing is to stick to it buddy! You have to learn learn learn exactly what it is that is going to make you consistent cash online and as soon as you find what works for you ...you can rinse and repeat and make bank.

    Welcome back!! I am in a similar situation myself - I used to flirt around with IM and made money with ebay and Clickbank on a regular basis but then I decided it was taking up too much of my time so I took a break from the scene. Now I am back and calling myself a newbie and starting again from fresh - this time I am determined to make it happen properly.

    I'm recently back in IM and I like your enthusiasm although people tend to give up easily when it comes to online marketing and making money online. Also if you are using adwords as said above, it is a bad idea to just go straight in as you may end up spending most of your funds in a blink of an eye. Best of luck to you! Hope you make alot!

    First of all, thank you to everyone here for your warm welcome back. For the past couple of hours, I've been surfing the Net online, looking at the various recently launched CB products to try and get a feel where IM has gone in the past 1-2 years I was away.

    Now that I've gotten somewhat of an idea of where to pick up from...I'm gonna gear up slowly before going full swing...I mean hey, I gotta make my first dollar again, before I can even look at 10, 100, 1000, 10,000 right?

    Anyway, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in following me as in, if i were to create some sort of a blog or weekly PDF report that kinda lay out what I'm up to (IM-related) and how I get up to speed again and finally making money... anyone for it?

    At the back of my head, I've got a figure 10...this means, I'll need at least 10 people to kinda "follow" me as I get up to speed and start making some real money this time.

    As a fair warning to those who might be interested, you might need to get onto my list, but no worries, I'm not gonna be bombarding you with "Buy This Guru's Stuff" emails at all. None. In fact, all I'm gonna do, is to get real personal with you guys...my "followers"... you know, where we just form a little circle and really talk via email, not those autoresponder thingy

    Internet Marketing is like any other business. You first have to put a ton of time and money into it before you can start pulling out of it consistently. (there are exceptions)
    Once I stopped spending out of my PayPal account it was amazing how fast it started to fill back up again.

      It's a popular misconception that a high gravity means a good product, or a product that's selling in high numbers. Always take into the account the market you're jumping into, is it IM? If so it's quite possible that the majority of the sales from the product are IM'ers buying the product for themselves through their own affiliate link. Always take this into account when checking gravity.

      Also, never try to sell something you don't beleive in. You should always focus on promoting products that you know are high in quality and will benefit the customer.

        2) Arowana ( a kind of expensive ornamental fish) keeping

        Both these 2 niches have CB products. Keywords( based on Google Keyword Tool) seem to have decent search volume per month as well as low competition.

        Both of these 2 niches are stuff I'm personally interested in, in particular, the second one, about keeping an arowana. In fact, I myself am keeping an arowana at home, so definitely if I go down Google Sniper 2 road, I won't bore myself to tears trying to come up with original and good quality content.

        Problem is, the CB product for the arowana niche market has pretty low grav...3.25 if I ain't mistaken. On the other hand, the sports betting arbitrage is currently no. 2 product in the betting category.

        I'm kinda lost and confused as to which one to pick and go ahead with.

          Sounds good pal. Honestly, I don't knwo what an Arowana is, but I'd definitely say that's your best bet. Focus on getting yourself a niche mini-site on the top spot of google for your keywords. it won't make you a millionaire, but it'll be great practise, and i imagine fairly easy.

    Oh yes...I've been looking at some tools that I'm thinking of getting. As mentioned in the opening post, I'm back...but I consider myself to be a nooooooob...so all help/recommendations are welcome

    1) Aweber ( must-have)

    2) Optimize Press ( to build wordpress optin pages and salespages)

    3) Market Samurai or Spyfu for keyword research??? which is better?

    In my minds eye, I feel you will be successful, just do more of what works for you, and less of what doesnt. Pretty simple, but most things that work are!
