Are you making this mistake?

Let me start off by saying that almost everyone makes this mistake at some point.

In fact, I've been very guilty of it for the last few months, but I'm putting a stop to it in my own life.

What mistake am I talking about?

-Its not sending tons of spammy links to your website in a day
-Its not forgetting to set a daily cap on your PPC campaign
-Its not making a few typos so your article isn't accepted at EZA

.....its "working"

What's "working"?

-Surfing the Warrior Forum for 2-3 hours a day without any purpose
-Skimming through a new WSO or ebook every other day
-Taking "breaks" that turn into an hour or more away from your IM business

In other words, THINGS THAT DON'T MAKE YOU MONEY!

Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Warrior Forum.

But it's very easy to get trapped in here, just like a good book, movie, video game, whatever.

Its easy to justify it sometimes, saying to yourself "I need to learn something new", or "I'm promoting my signature"

Ok, cool.

But here's something I've noticed lately-

Some of the most successful IMers are NEVER in here

Guys like Ryan Eagle, Tim Atkinson, Jason Fladlien- they're too busy MAKING MONEY to spend all of their time in here.

Are there exceptions? Of course!

There are probably a few 6-7 figure marketers reading this who have thousands of posts, which is sweet because they can balance their WF time and their real work.

For example take Alexa Smith- she has about 12093712987 posts, 1298237198273198 thanks, and yet I NEVER see the little green circle meaning she's online! I swear shes a ninja.

But for most people reading this- those Warriors making less than $100 a day- take heed.

Treat the Warrior Forum as a tool, or maybe a place to relax.

For example it can be a tool for launching JVs, WSOs, or learning something.

It can also be a place to relax. You're surrounded by some of the coolest people in the world, who are also willing to help you!

But when it comes down to it- your business is going to be MUCH more successful if you're out there planning your business and taking action than cruising the WSO section all day.

With that- I'm off to make money

Justin

Many times I come to this forum for inspiration – especially when I’m stuck, and I feel I need new solutions. By reading other posts I learn many interesting things. I never feel I’m wasting my time here.

I can't say I haven't been there and I often get stuck hours thinking what to do next and eventually close the book and leave. This helps though ..

Yup, you got it. Fortunately for me the Warrior Forum is my main source of moolah right now, but even I at times get lured in by things. I have a program that allows me to micro manage my day (somewhat, I have kids ) It's helpful for focusing purposes and for making me more money.

I wouldn't say the forum sucks up my valuable time...I come here when I'm stuck or just need to figure out how to do something. It definitely hasn't had a negative effect on my business so far

As long as you plan 1 day ahead and make written notes of what you'll do, there is no danger of wasting your time.

I understand your point, Justin. I've joined the party not long ago as a member, however I was lurking around for a few years. Do I need to get unplugged sometimes?

I got a strange habit. I have one browser open for my work related things, and one for WF & some other sites. This way I keep an eye on forums/news sites/blogs while working because it helps me keep updated with recent trends, changes, news related to my business. WF provides invaluable resources for research.

That's a part of my business, and these things are not a distraction for me. Probably because I have years of background in active journalism and I've worked in some disturbing environment.

    Totally agree with you Justin.

It's so easy to get caught up in the forum and before you realize you've spent a couple of hours cheching out offers of products and services and hopefully made a few meanigful posts.

Having said that there is a lot of good in this forum, as long as you know how to manage your time well.

I'm starting to reward myself with forum time after I've been productive What a dog!

As long as you have completed the most important task(s) of the day FIRST I think is perfectly all right to surf here without a specific purpose. I have stumbled upon lots of valuable threads that saved me from mistakes, money unwisely spend, and lot of frustration by just hanging around here.

Well Justin you have pointed out some good information here.I personally use this network to learn and to promote my network and frankly saying I seldom believe those WSO's not only in this forum but also everywhere I get them.

I hear ya Justin. Thank you for the reminder. I think the balance that you mentioned is the key. There's good stuff here and it DOES help with inspiration and motivation but you are absolutely right, it IS easy to lose hours here.

I could have sworn I saw the same post back in 2007 and though you won't see the same old ppl posting that often anymore...(yeah they're still around), back then I was even worse...I would just look around without signing up...and see if they're any great WSOs I can snap.

But anyhow, I guess you've discovered what WF is and the real way to profit from it.....I'm a troll too sometimes on WF btw..apart from the time when I'm promoting my sig... lol

    Great post btw.
