Site is up and ready to promote, but how?

First of all, yes I am a newbie so go easy on me here!

I have a site setup and it is ready to be promoted, but I am not sure which direction to go.

I can write some articles myself and then promote those for the site.

I also have the option to pay someone for SEO work.

Another option is PPC, but I have no clue what I am doing!

If someone could kindly point me in the right direction, that would be great. Like I said I am new to the IM realm and just looking for some advice.

Thanks,
-Christian

First...I sincerely hope the site your talking about is not the one in your sig. I can tell you from frist hand experience, making a good living online is not about making money, but making meaning.

So if you really haven't made money online and you're selling a make money online product, stop wasting your time.

But to answer your question, writing articles is great. Also, try turning those artilces into videos and putting them up on the various video sites with watermarks and calls to action to visit your site. That also works very well.

      Good luck!

I agree one 100%. If that is the site your asking about...Its guys like you that can give Internet Marketers a bad name dude. How can you pretend to "Tutor" people when your here in this forum basically admitting you need help to "begin promoting" your site?

Promoting a site is one of the major systems an internet marketer needs to have down pat. There is no problem at all that you dont know. We all dont know certain things. But dont try selling yourself and your product as some sort of guru when your not. Your a newbie, just like many of us here.

Find another niche. Learn, respect others, and then once your done with then maybe look into a money making niche.

If i came to your site and thought wow! This guy is going to tutor me, ill sign up(which i did). And then began receiving your videos, i personally would be dissapointed because there is practically no value at all. The video basically shows you pointing and clicking your way around blogger, clickbank and article submitter.

But you dont actually tutor me the viewer on how i can earn online. My guess would be that after you send out 2-3 emails like this you will then send out affilliate links to IM products. Genius!

        WRONG!

Lots of internet marketers do this or try to do this. MOst people like myself unsubscribe within minutes. Ask around if you dont believe me. So in short dont waste our time because its valuable and dont waste your own time.

I could be 100% wrong. If i am then let me and the forum know by providing video proof of your "full time income".

Dont want this to sound like an attack, its just some harsh advice thats all.

        p.s. im a newbie too

    Hi Christian

Please be careful if you go down the adwords route, you could end up losing a fortune if you're not careful.

Make sure your site is well optimised for keywords etc for a start, has some decent content and try and get some decent backlinks, should help you organically at least

    Cheers
    Kim

I don't think that's the best advice... Not only because your "pimping" another product (which isn't necessarily a bad thing if you honestly feel it as quality product) but because theres more to marketing than PPC.

I think as a product owner, affiliates are your key to success. Once others start promoting for you, than your site will get found naturally by affiliates and by organic means.

Perhaps a better question is, how can I jump start my product with affiliates?

CB is the best product I have seen that includes everything from Q score to tracking codes. If you want to get "instant joy" and find out if your product will fly, there's nothing better.

Without repeating all the great advice above, I would also add Ed Dale's 30 Day Challenge. It's totally free, and offers a lot of helpful training for beginners.

I can't yet post the site link...not enough posts yet ...but just google Thirty Day Challenge.

Ed, he's all over the place.

First and foremost, you need an action plan. You need to know what you're going to do, when you're going to do it, and when you're going to have it done by.

Of course, though, that's the question you're asking: Where do I start?

Before you even think about promoting any type of product, you need to have a squeeze page set up. This collects a visitors email address in exchange for some type of free content or report.

When you send traffic to a squeeze page and it converts, you're building a list. You'll be able to market to that list forever.

My advise to you is this:

Set up a squeeze page. Send traffic to your squeeze page via article marketing, forum posts with links in your signature, PPC, and Joint Venture projects. Once you have a substantial base of subscribers (A few hundred) you can start selling to them.

Of course, if you're running a content site or membership site, then you can just plug your site in your emails.

Hope this helps. And if you need any advice at all, don't be afraid to send me a private message.

Looks like he's already got the site setup Jesse.

I like the look of your site Christian. Your well advanced in terms of your squeeze page setup especially incorporating the video. Just start driving traffic to it.

Submit articles targeted to your keywords, start participating in forums such as this one and link your site in your signature and try doing some ad awaps (will depend on your list size).

Do some testing and tweak your sqeeze page. You should see a good number of opt-ins based on the page you have up already.

I have to agree with articles. They are a great source of free traffic and the search engines love them.

Also look at setting up some free social media pages at squidoo, wordpress.com, wetpaint.com and twitter. You can get some search engine love just by putting some great content on these site and point a link to your site with good anchor keywords.

If I were you I would do these three things first:

    1. Write some articles and submit them to ezinearticles

    2. Join Twitter and start tweeting

    3. Make some videos and submit them to youtube and other video sharing sites (use tubemogul it's free)

Make sure that you use keywords in everything that you do.

Also change the youtube embed code on your site so that other people's videos do not show up as options once your video stops playing. You may lose visitors on your site if they click on someone else's video link after your video stops playing.

If you'd like to turn off the option to see related videos through your embedded player, simply add "&rel=0" after the video ID number in the embed code.

Look for 'value' and 'src' in the code, they will both be followed by your video id. Add in '&rel=0' at the end of both these. That should do it!

        value="...youtube.com/v/yourid&rel=0">
        src="...youtube.com/v/yourid&rel=0"

        Good luck,

        Steve
