Hello,
I am an independent freelance web designer from India working from home.
Is it a nice idea for me to put Craigslist ads in USA cities to bring business towards me or people will find it silly since Craigslist is for local purposes.

    You can use elance.com and similar sites for this goals. But, I don't know what about Craiglist, I think it's only for local purposes.

    Yeah you could get replies, but I don't even like posting ANYTHING on Craigslist anymore due to how much spam responses you get. A lot of times it's hard to filter them out.

    But I'd also recommend you check out oDesk.com, I've had great experience with them.

    Of course you could try to post a few times, maybe find a cheap posting service and test it out? If you have some extra cash it couldn't hurt. But honestly I'd stick with outsourcing directories and building your LinkedIn profile and connections. You could also post here in the 'Warriors for Hire' forum.

      freelancer.com is another good source of work. Personally speaking, if I find somebody who does good work and is good at communication, I try to give them as much work as possible.

      That is to say, one job can frequently turn into a long-term thing. I hire a lot through oDesk also, so that's another good place to try out.

      Are you any good with Adobe Illustrator?

    Nope! use different freelance websites for working and publishing your profile. You can also create your portfolio website and promote it.

    Elance, Odesk, Fiverr, WF, you have a number of options. Craigslist attracts a lot of spammers.

    Why not list your services here in Warrior classified section? There's less scammers here than Craigslist plus, you can establish an authority here on whatever you do best.
