List building and Amazon

So, list-building seems to be at the forefront of many an "IMer's" success. But, how would you build a list through your Amazon sites? Have a box for them to fill information in to receive updates? Have a pop-up doing the same when they leave?

I feel I'm missing out by not building a list, so would be interested in hearing how you have or would build yours on an Amazon affiliate site.

    It should be noted that you can no longer put Amazon affiliate links in email - they made it against the rules within the past year. That puts quite the wrench into what is already hard to do properly (list-building with Amazon-centric sites)

    Quite simply, you can offer to send them updates on the latest deals. And when you do, you can of course direct them through an affiliate link/page. You could also offer a 'buyers guide' to sign up to the list.....then afterward you direct them to a page/link of product them might be interested in.

    Im sure you can come up with someone better with a little effort

    ^^ Yeah, for this reason especially I no longer try and build lists with my Amazon websites. Plus I find it much more profitable with things like Leadgen.

    If you want to build a list with Amazon sites, here is what I would do. I would pick a niche, let's say home decorations for example. I would build a 5-10 different sites for the different products in this niche and in the sidebar of each site have an opt-in form with a hook that would encourage signups. Something like "I go through xxx products everyday and bring to your attention the heavily discounted ones" (not the best way to put it, but you get the idea) You can even use an exit pop up to capture leads.

    One they are on your list alert them to product discounts. You'll need to post these on your site, so you could do a quick post on the product and give them the link to your post in the email. Don't include your affiliate links to amazon in the email as this is against their TOS.

    I have been wondering about this as well. I see that there is a built in option to gather users emails witht the wordpressreviewtheme and I am curious how well this converts when you email them to notify them of new reviews

    I made a pdf with comparison charts and reviews in it and offer it to visitors.
    This has affiliate links in it. I email them once a fortnight and send them to special page about a related offer. I get these offers emailed to me from Amazon and MYHABIT

    Slow process building a list but have made some money thru it.

    hey Chris

    As mentioned its not easy to build a list especially with mini sniper sites but I think if you go with an Authority site based around a niche it is a lot easier to come up with something to entice them to give you their contact details and then market them associated products.
